This is with regards to the AKS74U? If so, the lower handguard retainer is too high by about a millimeter. Have not tried changing out the retainer but what I did instead was modify the handguard itself to sit lower by removing some material at the bottom and adding material on top.

Yea. It's for the AKS-74u. I'll change out the lower handguard retainer soon. In any case I decided to re-do the barrel on my AK-74MN conversion. I was not really comfortable with the 2-piece barrel solution I came up with. So I ordered a WE AK PMC barrel and pinned the gas block. The AK PMC barrel is a tad too long so I'm going to chop the barrel a bit and find a 74 FSB with threads or buy a real steel one. Here's my WE rifles next to their real steel counterparts.

  2. AWESOME. 100% pure win.

hmm what if you thread your WE outer barrel, and use part of the 74M barrel as an extension? the coupling will stay hidden inside the handguard, and you keep the perfect fit in the chamber with the WE barrel and perfect fit of the handguard, front sight, etc with the CYMA part

That's actually a good idea. I'll look into it. Thank you! :)

  3. I got the Z-parts trigger group and I can definitely feel the difference. I have a Wii Tech adjustable steel trigger bar coming in tomorrow. I also fixed magazine insertion over-travel using some thick tape. It will going to its first skirmish in three days. :>

  4. I'm looking into purchasing one of these and I'm trying to compile some fixes I'll have to do in the lifetime of this gun:

    So far I see:

    1) Leaking mags

    2) WE standard pot metal trigger set

    3) Hop-up chamber damage

Let me know if I missed anything.

  5. So the parts from Wii-tech arrived. 1 day for order processing and 6 days from China to the East Coast. I got the sight rail, the firing pin sear, and full auto sear. The parts came really well packaged, individual bags for each part, bagged again, and then a hard plastic transparent "Wii Tech" card stapled to enclose the goods. The internal parts were well oiled and each was stamped "WT".

The rear sight uses two allen keys and clamps onto the rear sight via the two divots cut into the bottom of the rear sight on both sides. The fit was really nice, the locking portion is actually flush with the body of the sight rail, the dark area around it is oil.

The rail block is cut so you can still utilize the iron sights.

I didn't take any pics of the firing pin sear because it was machined perfectly! Fit just like the stock one.

The full auto sear had some differences, however it fit right in just like the stock part. Don't mind the big blob of oil on the Wii Tech part.

I ran a couple of mags through it using both full-auto and semi-auto. Everything works perfect.

  6. Really diggin the type D trigger.

Nope,  that just won't happen in stock internals.

Right...even though there are people out there who have had it crack on stock internals. O_o The area where the crack appears is rather thin in the first place and it might even come down to how it was formed when cast. So just because you got lucky doesn't mean it doesn't happen. :) I'm not entirely saying that the steel trigger didn't accelerate the issue, it just seems a bit daft to say that if I had stayed using the stock internals it wouldn't have happened.
