  1. Just logged on for the first time in 7 years, haven’t scored in 12 I think... lockdown makes us do funny things.

Decided after racing cars for 10 years I can afford a side hobby, so it’s time for some more softing.

... no let’s build an SSG 35rps reliable ROF monster and get back on the horse!

... oh wait, all the sites are closed.

And also notice the very grooving DE81 Clone AEP USP with new wiring and Deans connectors, a lightened piston and an 8.4volt 1100mah Mini battery butchered and taped to the bottom - soon to have a Nineball spring in it too. Quality sidearm, good ROF too.

The CA36 does have a healthy ROF, but it would benifit from a System Turbo I think, until recently it was going to recieve a Systema Magnum, an SP1%0 spring, and remove of the selector to make it a single shot high power jobby, but I have enough range the way it is, and want to keep the ROF, even it is does cost me a fortune in .25's!

  3. Just got hold of a brand new JG G36 last night, I must say I'm impressed. The body isn't quite as nice as a CA but it's to be expected.

This is what I've done so far:

    Externally:

    15mm Silencer

    CA side rail

    G&P 10.8 volt 3300mah PEQ

    Internally:

    CA metal bushings

    CA cylinder

    CA tappet plate

    CA swiss cheesed piston

    M3 piston head fixing

    Systema Bearing spring guide

    Guarder SP100

    Reshim

Rewired with Mosfet and Deans connectors.

Guarder Clear hopup rubber, Prometheus 6.03 x 363mm M4 barrel

All the internal and external mods came from my spares box and I’ll make a £10er back from the battery, all in all it was a bargain and makes for a very decent backup; better than most people’s primary.

  4. You should add one of the STANAG conversions to that.  It would look awesome!

Why would I want to do that?

Then I would only have 300 round hicaps to use instead of 470, plus I can clip G36 hicaps together. G36 hicaps is so much better than Armalite ones, plus I've got 5 of the buggers so I'm not going to waste them.

  5. You can whack some rounds through it next time I'm down if you like.

To be honest the setup isn't that fast (excluding the battery) it's just got very little trigger delay, your setup on my battery would obviously be faster. Just give it time and more £££.

  6. If you dont mind ;) Mike rewired it to the rear with thicker wire, that improved ROF greatly with 8.4v, using a 9.6v gives an impressive sound and stream or bb's they just dont go very far at all lol. We replaced the ported cylinder with normal one but that didnt make any difference at all, just slowed ROF by 2rps :(

Yeah a larger volume cylinder will slow your ROF a bit, but it will give better airflow with that longer barrel, and when we get it working - higher fps, so it was worth doing.

    You down Sunday week?

  7. Yeah, but my WGC order hadn't arrived by then so the 12volt was gaffa taped to a C-stock, plus I was firing through a Deepfire 6.04 on solid bushings. So not as smooth or accurate, but it still gave me a decent range advantage over just about everyone, and turned a few heads with the ROF.

The ghillie was a bit of a disaster, totally the wrong colour, especially for this time of year, I think I'll soak it in a bucket of dirty water for a few days or something.

Saw you in the Multicam, bloody geardo :P . What was with the shotty, didn't you have an AEG?

I'll probably be down Sunday week by the way.

bet that thing fires like a *fruitcage* dream.

Oh yes mate, the gearbox is smooth as fudge, it's got the new CA gearset too, 4 catches on the bevel, coupled to the 12volt; trigger delay is minimal, but I want to bring it down even further.

  8. IMGP1740.jpg

    Externals:

    CA36

    CA36c top rail

    G&P retractable butt stock

    G36c rail on foregrip

    Guarder aimpoint rep

    Internal mods:

    Prometheus 6.03 x 534mm barrel

    Guarder hopup rubber

    CA O-ring airnozzle

    Systema type-0 NB Cylinder

    TM piston (heavily modified)

Vented TM piston head with M3 fixing

    Guarder SP100 spring

    Guarder bearing spring guide

    G&P 7mm ball race bearings

    Re-shim

Selector plate removed and switch assembly simplified

    Rear wired with 16awg

    Deans connectors

    12volt 4300mah NiMH battery.

Deadly accurate and with .25s the range is awesome, plus obviously the ROF is quite impressive.

Future mods: Systema Magnum motor, Mosfet, maybe change to 14awg wiring.

  9. Why are people complaining this gearbox isn't reinforced? It's a V2, it doesn't need to be built like brick at the rear, it just needs to be strong at the front. Ok so the window isn't filed like a CA for example, but it wouldn't be a huge effort to file it.

The VFC piston isn't too bad at all, I've read about people running them on 12 volts, and vfc removed the 2nd tooth in the mold which is clever.

I don't understand why people get excited over the piston head. Yes it's aluminium, that's hardly a great thing, alu head just transfer more energy to the shell reducing its life. VFC have used the same piston, head and gearset in all their AEGs I believe.

On thing that really puzzles me is why VFC use a 7mm gearbox with those self shimming gears. The only reason I can see as to have a 7mm gearbox is so people can use ball race bearings if they wish, however you can't couple ball race bearings with those self shimming gears because the spring give axial force to the bearings, reducing their life. It's almost as though VFC expect people to swap out their bushings and their gears.

  10. Piston head looks damaged too.

Raptor, if possible could you find out what kind of hopup rubber is in there and also whether it needs an M14 barrel like the TM, or will any barrel fit? (TM barrel has the c-clip cuts further up)

    Cheers mate, great review

ps, keep us posted on any modifications and upgrades you perform.

  11. Nope, because Systema and subsequently all other spring manufactures calculate their springs using .25bbs, not .2s. So with a .25s you should get 328fps from a 100, however with a .2, which is the most common round you end up getting about 350, in most cases more.

If you only get 328ish from a 100 it means you're losing air pressure.

  12. This question would have been more suited to the technical section, this thread predates god, and hasn't had a post for a millennium.

1 - It uses a V3 gearbox, however it's not any kind of Royal.

2 - Yes it can handle an M120 and nothing else, however this will give you 400+fps, rather than the 350 you want.

3 - Yes a Prometheus tightbore will give you more accuracy, even at low FPS.

To get to the fps you want get an M100, not a 120.
