Reading other people's profiles... Oh look you're reading mine now!
  1. F2000 Nothing sexier... Bullpup - Modular - Good enough for Sam Fisher!
  2. Just a bump and a nudge to see if anyone has the new Star M249 MK46 SPW and if anyone is aware of any retailers selling the front RIS system as a stand alone product. For that matter does the RIS work on the original STAR M249 MKII?
  3. What about the left handed shooters out there? I thought the whole gun was rather awkward till I went prone with it... That's when it fits.
  4. The issues I was having with the mag not getting power and winding seem to be sorted out. I think it was a problem with my AEG battery resting on the AA battery connector. The connection was not tight. I unplugged and replugged and it's working great now. I also wrapped the connector in electrical tape to help it hold in the future. Electrical tape and Duct tape. As airsofters best friend.
  5. I can answer you tension release question. It was tough to push in on mine. It gets easier over time but depending on where the spring is in its cycle it can still be a little tough.
  6. Sure Shot and WarMonger, thanks for the tip. I'll chech those out and post back here when I do find the solution. Dan, Try emailing STAR. They have been pretty helpfull to most people in this forum who have contacted them with issues.
  7. After about 5000 rounds I am now having the problem that the auto winding mag does not wind. It's like it is not getting a signal from the trigger to wind or that it is not getting power from the AA batterys. I can see bbs in the tube and they are not moving. Everything else works fine. I will then remove the connector and reconnect. This sometimes takes 4-5 tries before it works again. With one long burst I killed 4 people. The very next engagement I was killed because the gun dry fired. The person jumped and realised that my SAW was a dud. Laughed and called me to surrender. I wa
  8. I found the STAR feed cover to have a little too much flex for my taste. While mounting a rail for a scope I figured that was the best time to reinforce the feed cover. I added a piece of sheet metal to the inside of the cover for reinforcement. I have a guide and a walkthrough here: Mounting a Scope on the STAR M249
  9. That means different things to different people. Any idea what spring it was?
  10. Gundrosen, Can you give us some details as to how it happened? So that we might be able to avoid whatever you did. Here's an alternative to the rubberband setup to hold dummy rounds in place Tools needed Scissors Needle nose pliers Pliers Start with a small bungie-cord. These are available at most camping supply stores. I got mine at REI for 3$ for 8 of them. You'll only need one Next using the needle nose pliers remove the metal link that holds the "j hook" on at the end of the cord. You may need a second set of pliers to hold the cord close to the metal li
  11. I don't want to hijack this thread so instead of posting my complete how to guide for mounting a scope to the STAR M249 I'm going to simply post a link to the How to Guide here: Airsoft Alaska - How to mount a scope on the STAR M249. It's nothing eye opening for anyone who has modded an AEG before but might take some of the fear out of it for someone who is reluctant to drill a few holes in their new baby. Thought I would post it here rather then start a new thread since this post has become the best place for any info on the STAR M249.
  12. To see the images simply copy the URL paste it into the address bar Hit enter Hit back and repeat the process for the other images.
  13. Just an FYI there are now box mags over at www.FireSupport.co.uk . STAR M249 DRUM MAG
