Marui M870 Fix and Tuning Thread

Hey guys, I'm wondering if you can help. My Breacher gas tanks are spewing gas out the bottom of the tanks, likely from the latch which holds the gas tank in the grip - I've been using Green gas in this thing, ay advice on fixing them? Am I looking at tank swelling and therefore some gaps due to deformation opening up on the tank cos if so I'm going to bin these and get an angrygun stock tank.

    Magpul PTS PDR-C

"No no no no, guys! It's a great gun as long as you drop even more money than the initial 320 quid to upgrade the internals to not be jelly, as long as you don't mind the shaved bbs coming out of the feed tube. Oh and literally all AEGs instantly break if you drop them from any height ever, it's a true fact, the "weak" body is not a design fault at all! How dare you criticise a gun like this, you literally have to be an airsoft manufacturer to be able to criticise the design of a gun. MUUUM THE MAN SAID MY EXPENSIVE TOY GUN WAS BAD MAKE HIM STOOOOP" Lollin. Like I said earlier in the thread though, if it was priced at say £200, I wouldn't be mocking it quite as much, it's the fact they're still asking 320 for it.

Someone complaining somewhere about their G&P/CA/RS/TM having a fault is a league away from the immediate Holy Balls What The Hell Is With The Idiotic Design Of This Gearbox that has surrounded the release of the PDR. That's because a lot of us who were really looking forward to it started rolling around on our arses laughing at Magpul for teaming up with the amateurs at ARES again and producing another sub-par gun, not with occasional production based reliability issues that can sometimes befall other manufacturers like SRC or G&P, but because it was apparently designed by a pants on head muppetarded buffoon. The reason the thread got a lot more positive later on is purely because those of us disgusted by the gearbox design and the severe willingness of current PDR owners to make every excuse possible for their terribly designed piece of gucci gash - generally left the thread to it's own devices. Oh and don't drop it. The body will break open for like, no reason. MAGPUL POLYMERS WOOO

Aod's welcome to be honestly and truly 100% happy with his purchase. I just don't think he is. There's been a pretty obvious wave of buyer's regret among those people who pre-ordered this and started seeing the first reviews coming through which is understandable, I myself was rather heavily disappointed as I was looking forward to one myself. But when you see the ridiculous gearbox and read the feedback and then start reading nonsense like excuses being made by a magpul employee early on and people claiming that Batch numbers indicate a newer better revision except they turn out to have the same issues, people making the absurd claim that most guns cannot survive a fall of any kind as opposed to coming to the reasonable conclusion that the body is weak, it's pretty easy to tell you're looking at flat out feelings of denial and a defiant search for any cover from the reality that this looks like a typical ARES, a mess. Pride is the biggest problem with this thread now, too much personal pride involved in the reputation of a gun and that directly harms impartiality in a review section.

Except you are the one making the apparently unprovable claim, not me. I simply called you on it. I dunno, it's not often I'm presented with so much shilling for a product that people obviously regret buying but are too proud to acknowledge. Let me let you in on a little secret for airsofters who use reviews: a lot of us read the reviews of guns and pay by far the most attention to the bad points only, because any idiot can type "Feels solid" "Really Accurate" and other such stuff so it's generally taken as granted, whereas "The Charging handle fell off" or "The body broke in half" or in the case of the G&G Proline AKs "The Magnesium stock tangs break" can be corroborated with further research if it turns out to be a common issue! I know, madness right? That's why all this "No guys, it's good, really" stuff falls on deaf ears.

Majority eh? I don't accept your assertion, prove it please.

So basically the PDR has the resilience of a first generation TM M4s and JG-ish Pot metal bodied clones. good to know we're paying £320 for a gun that may or may not be comparable to a 2005-ish era clone.

    This thread is simply adorable.

Molehills become a touch more prominent on premium-priced, long awaited, massively hyped guns though. I could buy a Real Sword for a touch more than the cost of a PDR, hell my old CA SA58 cost that much and was damn bulletproof. For that price I'm not giving any leniency. If anything, this release is highlighting the gulf in motives between the airsofter, the airsofter who bought the hype and preordered and the retailer whose interest is to sell these guns.

I don't think I've ever seen this much leniency offered to a new gun with so many issues out of the gate.

That's basically why we're here. A tiny Bullpup that takes AR mags hasn't been done much at all, the only two I can think of is the L85 AFV and that's a pretty Marmite gun dependent on whether you like L85s and the Type 97B, which is longer by only 10cm and should definitely be next on the list for those who have saved their pennies. Tiny bullpups other than those don't exist and the PDR was looking to be a neat fusion of Things We Like like small size, low weight, drop free mags with AR style mag release, flat top rail for optics and basically be a cool as hell P90-sized gun that didn't use butt-tastic mags. I look forward to the fictional PDR-ish clones like WE did with the SMG-8, done by significantly better manufacturers than Magpul PTS because the concept is definitely there and there is the demand, but if you're like me you won't give the slightest damn if it doesn't exist as a real gun because I'll be too busy slaying bodies with it. After all the PDR doesn't exist as a real gun, but look at all this demand.

At time of writing, that puts this at £203.23, practically clone pricing. However in the UK at least they do their normal thing and swap the $ sign for a £ sign, so £320 for a gun with this many issues? That's in line with Top level G&Gs and CAs, I expect *no* internal problems at that price level.

I'm aware of Magpul's tendency to litigate with the force of a freight train, I am however hoping for a more capable company to come along and make a working sportline, even with the gross markup.

Leaping to the defence of his employer the way he has been doing for quite some time now does more harm for his employers than good, because he will then be doing an unpaid, therefore unsupervised PR job and the first rule of internet PR is to not make excuses and enter into debates about your product. I've done a PR job in the games industry where our games were getting slammed by reviewers and forumgoers alike and still you should remain silent and take note of criticisms. Nothing - and I mean Nothing - good comes from White Knighting. It's about being professional, not creating a sour connection between developers and community. Regarding the product, this looks shocking in how much stuff is going wrong with these first few batches. I guess I'll wait for JG to clone them or something and have a working gun.

    AK & Variants Picture Thread

Don't forget that airsoft is basically gun LARP and prom night for men rolled into one. Personally, I like my AK47s classic and my AK74s as practical tools loaded up with whatever is needed (probably due to my unconcious preconception that 47/Ms are the only classic AK to be preserved as such) but I'd never begrudge anybody doing whatever they like with their gun. I'm surprised there's so many Mag-Ks though, normally picture threads like this are the polar opposite.
