  1. Kenxin, could they have done it because this is probably the only TM pistol made lately that, I believe, was really designed to handle green gas and thats not allowed in Japan?

When I bought mine, I was trying to choose beween it and the TM Strike Warrior. When I picked up the PX4, I could'nt believe how solid it felt and then I noticed the recoil buffer and the fact that even the metal sub-frame in the slide as well as the receiver seemed more substantial then most of the latest TM's. Maybe they had to "dial it back" a bit. Just a thought.

Well, I do believe that the new BBU design is a cost-saving feature , however I can't see it making that much difference.

I really have no clue about why they changed the design.

How much do any of you use double action? My WE eventually gave up the ghost with it's DA and will only hit the valve knocker in SA. I gave it up for a Glock 19. No idea if this was a QC issue, or something inherent in the TM architecture.

What do you mean it will only hit the valve knocker in SA? doesn't the valve knocker actually move in DA? or do you mean it doesn't strike the valve hard enough?.

If it's the 2nd, your hammer spring might've gone weak, lightstrikes on a fully charged mag are common in marui's DA.

As far as answering your question, I go DA for the first shot of every magazine and sometimes if I decock the hammer mid-mag. Not much use, in truth.

  2. Mine is one of the first batch too, imported straight from japan as soon as it came out.

It's been a while since I've seen mine with the original plastic slide, but the frame didn't feel different to me.

The most notable difference for me is the colour (frame and slide finish-wise), but then again I don't actually own the new gen.

  3. When you say new one, are you talking about the sub-compact Bulldog or newer production runs of the full size Px4 ?

What about the finish of the controls ? Better than the original on ? :o

EDIT: My bad, this is the TM PX4 thread, not WE ! :o

The plastic feels identical to me, the newer one might be a bit darker in colour but feels identical.

The finish on the controls is identical.

What worries me, the slide on the px4 rides VERY low (more so than previous double actions marui did). With that new ramp, the slide has a lot more trouble returning to battery and cycling. Not that it should cause a problem when shooting (unless the gun is extremely dry) but it's worse than the original in that respect.

Also yesterday I got a chance to examine one for a bit, the slide to frame gap has increased quite a bit...and it's not just on the front, it's on all of the slide.

I'd say I like the design of the original and I don't know why they changed that (cost saving?).

  4. So far, the only thing that has broken in mine is the trigger spring. And that's after god knows how many shots (and more than 2 years of use).

HOWEVER, there is a 2nd generation of PX4s from marui with some slight differences. The new PX4s have the bbu bump that pushes the hammer down ramped (as the p226) instead of just a bump. Also the gap between slide and frame appears to be wider in the new ones....

I have not observed any other differences.

PICS (sorry, those are taken off google's cache, since the original ones disappeared. I don't have pictures of my own, sadly.):

2T1vHag.jpg (red = old one, yellow = new one).

If someone has the newer version, please post more pictures and your impressions.

  5. Velcro won't hold with the recoil. Your only chances are:

    - Make a mount to replace the rear sight (like some of the currently availiable glock  mounts).

    - Drill  some threads on the slide and BBU  to attach it there (I don't think it'll hold and I don't know if the BBU has enough material in it for that but...)

So far I've only seen 1 airsoft gun with the setup you want, and it was a japanese gun (so, less powerful gas).

Also, just in case you succeded (somehow), you'll be adding quite a bit of weight to the slide, so your gas efficiency will take a hit.

    In short, no you don't.

  6. Well since you guys have been helping me try to find a proper holster for it, the least I can do is offer some pictures of my TM Glock 34:

Sadly they're all indoor pictures because the inner-city does not take kindly to guns outdoors.

As of now, I've just gotten a generic holster: http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=28_102_686&products_id=10925

While its loose normally, with the M3 light attached its a very comfortable fit when adjusted right, and it seems decent enough at protecting the magazine release to avoid dropped mags.

Looking good! I love that sight picture.

Do tell how that guarder slide is holding up.

  7. Not sure about the question of 1/2 of a magazine? Maybe I wrote it wrong or you read it wrong, it's 1 and 1/2 magazine, one and a half. :)

As for the airplane in the seat of the gun. Well, basically it sais to cut out some cardboard and place inside the slide above the BBU to lower it slightly down towards the frame internals.

    Sorry, missread the mag thing.

what are your overall impressions so far?

  8. What I tried to say is that the roller can't miss that part....I can't picture how it can make an improper contact since the roller can't really move from the spot.

On the other hand, yeah I was referring to exactly this, if the bbu is not pushing the hammer down enough.

And yeah, some insert as in epoxy or a piece of plastic glued.

Good to know if those do make it to spain...some day.

  9. Anyone having problem with the slide not locking back when the mag is empty? Both of my mags do it randomly(sometimes they catch the slide sometimes not), in fact if insert an empty mag I can sometimes shoot it 4 times before the slide stays back. The slide does always lock back if I pull it back with hand. This is with green gas on 20 celsius. There are no wears anywhere so I have no idea what is the problem.

If the slide lock always locks when you do it by hand there shouldn't be a problem.

check if the recoil spring is too stiff (unlikely but you never know). the first 4 shots not locking the slide can indicate a light striking issue.

  10. There is a couple of problems causing this, and the early mentioned WE fix does not solve most peoples problems,

a lot of problems are being caused by the hammer not resetting properly due to the ramp above the blowback cylinder not making proper contact.

Mine was a later number and had the problem, so don't take it for granted over serials.

The way it's designed, it's 100% impossible for the BBU ramp to not contact the roller.

Now if the ramp was badly casted or i worn out it may not push the hammer down enough. If this is the case the only solution is installing some sort of insert or get a replacement bbu.

Or if you can post pictures! this is a review thread after all.

  11. So, remove the aircraft from inside the pistol, take the thing that's not a card from inside the aircraft, cut the thing to the appropiate size and put a hole in it and lastly slide a seat pat on top of the aircraft and fix it in place with some loctite.

Oh yeah! why didn't I think of that? Brilliant.

In all seriousness the correct fix for the burst issue is already on page 1. Anyways NonEx, did you check the nozzle for cracks or problems? the 1/2 mag thing has me surprised :S

  12. Can confirm I have the burst issue on my black M&P. Suspected it from day one since the trigger feel and break felt different compared to the tan one. Will have to check it out this weekend.

Dry fired it with Guarder 220PSI gas, light strikes first 3 shots had to manuall rack and insert magazine, then it let go. Worked alright. 22C indoors. :)

    pew pew

Man, that's not good :-/ what's the serial on that one vs the tan?

  13. I know that PGC kits more or less work straight out of the box. I've been using their kits on Glocks, 1911s and Sigs before. My point is that if the instructions are to modify the BBU, then you can't be upset if things don't fit perfectly without doing so.

As far as the price goes, I completely agree with you in that it is absurdly high. Since I don't fancy it aesthetically it's automatically a no-buy for me. I've always preferred PGC/Pro-Win kits when possible for all my pistol projects.

There are no instructions provided and I QUOTE from redwolf : "Airsoft Surgeon SAI Arms Costa Style G34 Silde Set For Tokyo Marui 17 is a drop in and use part that you can easily install yourself. "

There are no instructions to modify the bbu and the thing is advertised as drop-in. Please check your facts.

Thanks for the correction on the holsters RM, good to know.

  14. I'd love to hear how did you fit those sights.

Anyhow, the common consensus on marui glock holsters is (or at least I think it is) ...use the ones for the .40 (as far as RS goes).

I'm unsure wether it's the same for mag pouches or not.

  15. is it a drop fit wit TM G17?

Nope, had the same fitting issues as my prime 34 (exact same ones). You have to sand the bbu a bit to even fit it to the slide.

I really didn't like his review/unboxing there. If the instructions from the manufacturer is that you should sand the BBU, why would you complain about it?

Besides, it's a known fact among people who like to modify their guns that the more aftermarket parts you install, the more snags you'll have to deal with.

It didn't really look like he lubed up the slide rails or outer barrel at all, so he really shouldn't be surprised that it started scratching up.

He takes good care of his guns and knows his stuff. AS advertises all his stuff as maximum quality and QCd by Lai himself. PGC, Shooters design and a few others have made drop-in G17 slides since like ...forever. It IS surprising to have to do fitting to a glock slide by AS.

Old airsoft surgeon glock slides (caspian ones) are drop-ins, as far as I know.

Otherwise the quality on the slide is excellent.
