  1. We're back, sorry I had to install some new runtime binaries and correct a software glitch caused by the server auto updating

PS: Those picture threads have unarchived. Thanks so much!

  2. Don't you just hate it when a simple software update means you have to rewrite the entire system from the ground up?

Thanks! It doesn't seem like they're coming out of archive, sadly - could you un-archive this one? Thanks again!

As a massive request - can we un-archive (or stop archiving) the picture threads? I feel a bit bad creating new threads for just one or two guns...

  6. I'd like to hear folk's thoughts on the G&G CM16 LMG being shown off lately.  I agree with most detractors about the cost, the fact that the internals are not really built for the role it is supposed to represent, etc. but for some reason I just like the look of it (and folks will know I am anything but an armalite fan at all) due to the shape of the upper.  I kinda want to see what G&G would do to make an ak variant of the same concept, whether they would take one of their rk74 rifles and slap a drum mag on it or would they bother designing a rpk length receiver, maybe make a pseudo rpk-16.

I hardly ever see LMGs on the field and I'd like to see more, especially if it means regular ARs/SMGs being limited to semi-auto. I'd happily take a couple of these pretty-clearly-just-a-dressed-up-AR-15 things if that's what it takes to stop literally everyone else wasting 100rds at a time from their regular AEG.

  7. Has anyone ever ordered direct from AST Taiwan? Are they legit/reliable? Finally found somewhere with an RATech Mk23 steel slide :D

    1. PureSilver

      PureSilver

I think they're just RA-Tech's factory outlet, so yeah, they're reliable. I think I have had parts ordered on my behalf from them.

Anyway, don't buy the RA-Tech Mk.23 slide, just buy my gun. Or if you don't (grr), get a Mafioso slide kit instead - it's better than the RA-Tech.

  8. Does anyone know of a G17 RMR slide that's just a basic Glock, rather than an aftermarket (ZEV, SAI etc.) one?

    1. PureSilver

      PureSilver

Nice! Sadly (sort of) I already bought a PGC G17 slide, another Volante BBU and an ALG 6 Second with a clone T1...

Thanks! I've been keeping an eye on the Volante ones, which look promising aside from the eye-watering price. I guess he figures he's going to have to amortize the development costs of the new BBU solely over this handful of slides - I'll wait and see.

It's annoying! I can't even find any basic RMR slides - the only one ever made was a Guns Modify G26 that hasn't been in stock anywhere for years, and GM don't seem to have any plans to make more. I ended up going with a PGC G17 slide, and will probably end up grabbing a Six Second mount rather than a drop-in RMR mount.

  11. Does anyone have one of those spotted phallic toy KAC suppressors that could do me a favor and measure its diameter? Promise it's not for something lewd lol.

    1. PureSilver

      PureSilver

I make the diameter of one of the realistic-size ones about 38-40mm including the heatshield. If you're planning on having it inside a rail system, note that it has a QD mounting system, the tallest bit of which (at least on mine) protrudes another 5mm.

  12. Does anyone know anything about airgun valve design?

I'm having a hell of a time trying to design an inline nozzle and knock-open valve. Can I PM you?

  13. WTB: Aimpoint CompM3. Anyone?

    1. PureSilver

      PureSilver

Dunno, depends on the condition and the mount. What're you asking? PM?

  14. I want to buy a T1/H1 clone, but I want it with Aimpoint trademarks. Recommendations?

Cheers. I've grabbed the cheapest one I could find on AliBaba, and I guess we'll see how it goes!

TBH for what S&S are charging I'd be buying a deactivated SMLE and stripping it for bits.

I've got a master .xlsx with all the spending for actual and potential projects. I'm not sure if I'm hiding from it, or it's hiding from me.

The MS1 actually looks pretty nifty! I'm trying to do this for absolute pennies (it's a 'value for money' loaner loadout) to see what can be done for £10 and a sewing kit. That said, the MS1 is sub-£30 from TacticalKit so I'll definitely consider that an option.

      PureSilver

It's the sling mounts I'm really stuck on. Seems that some of the Block Is got a KAC QD mount, but the CQD receiver end plates also seem to be popular. Can't find a decent thread with in-the-wild photos.

  24. Has anyone ever used a Bowman radio? Seeing tons of them on eBay, and wondering why I never see them at skirmishes.

    1. PureSilver

      PureSilver

The Bowman headsets are all over eBay and also not very expensive. The radios themselves are 2.4Ghz - the same frequency as a lot of WiFi routers, Xbox controllers, all that.

That's the one, CKinnerley. I'm not sure they need reprogramming (I'm not even sure they're compatible with regular radios, so nothing to reprogramme them to). 256 channels, bombproof and dirt cheap - I would have thought people would be more interested; I guess the standardisation doesn't exist in your average skirmish. Would be good for a team, though...
