Um... Marlowe? I think HBC was referring to the Airsoft News subforum, not the news/main page. Edit ~ nope, my bad. Sorry, I was going on the title rather than the text. So, gonna have to agree with Marlowe on this one. I think retailers using the Airsoft News subforum to announce their stock is a little against the spirit of the thing, and isn't that kinda what the news page is actually for? The subforum allows us to discuss that news if we wish, and also discuss other subjects, such as upcoming guns.

Half agree. I think it's useful to know if a retailer now stocks *insert flavour of the month gun people have been waiting for*, so maybe a specific retailer news section?

I don't think anyone is suggesting a draconian approach. For example, yesterday someone pointed out that one gun Evilhippy was selling could actually be bought for the same price new at a UK retailer. Fair comment. But that's a world of difference from haggling on the basis that prices in Hong Kong are lower. Hell, if that were the case, the majority of stuff sold on these forums is over-priced.

It's a Marushin 6mm airsoft gun. Loads one bb in each shell, six shells in the cylinder. Power seems to be about on a par with the cheap TM NBBs, so I'll guesstimate at about 220fps with .2s. Not the best performer in the world, but I've got one Tanaka and another on the way for performance.

I don't know if it's just me (hence me posting this), but could we have it made a rule that, if you're going to haggle someone down on the basis of retailer price, you have to quote a retailer in the same country? I'm sick of seeing people chipping in with "Well, it's less than that new from WGC/Ehobby Asia/wherever." Surely it's only fair to compare a price to the retail price in the same country?

Any Tanaka will handle green gas. Outside of Tanakas, you're on dodgy ground. TMs don't handle it well, apparently. Marushins... some do, some don't.

Given the rep system is already pretty pointless, and you can if you really want to see what reps someone has given out, would that really be the best way for Arnie to spend his time?

Something I've noticed, don't know if it's relevant. Up until about a week ago, it was just the forums themselves that went down. The rest of the site (review database, classifieds, etc) was fine. Now everything goes. Oh, and if the akmeter provides advertising revenue, unless the people voting to get rid of it will start paying Arnie, then I can't see what a vote will acheive.
