  1. As a long time AK lover, I call it close enough:-) Drags are awesome.
  2. Piano, that is just all kinds of cool:-)
  3. supervepr

    It's been a great month:-)

FN made a beautiful rifle then, and they still make one now. I'm a happy old man.
  4. The ATF is where all the washouts from other agencies go. Certainly not a brain trust and their silly rules reflect this. Example: On one of their beloved no knock warrants here, they asserted that a citizen was mating illegal upper and lower receivers ON AN AK. Cream of the crop law enforcement:-)
  5. That Vikhr is just the shizzle. That, and a VSK would give me a perma grin:-)
  6. Don't know about the OP but mine is still chugging right along. No problems at all.
  7. Mine is fixed and back in action. It is a great lil gun and as the reviewer said, sturdy as heck on the outside. I even accidentally sat on the gun (left it in chair outside in the dark) and bent the stock. It did not break and bent right back into shape. Aside from my trigger spring popping out, its been flawless. BTW, the JG version has a lever to keep the battery from moving. It wont move at all when attached.
  8. "His smile NEVER touches his eyes" You are dead on correct. Perfect description:-) If Sonny ever terminated me, I can imagine that smile. It says, "nothing personal, just business...the laws of nature dictate you die, I live. Have nice day"
  9. BloodSword, first, that's cool:-) Second, is that scope like a soviet version of our old VN era Starlight scopes? Night vision?
  10. Wondering why I have gone on a jihad to Magpul my MP15 to death while secretly hating Magpul:-)

  11. I would like to upgrade my three week old JG version to just working:-) Still in the shop with hope dwindling:( I miss that lil feller.
  12. Sonny is the real deal. He has been on a lot of History and Discovery channel shows demonstrating various Russian techniques of using the AK and just about anything else as a weapon. His resume and combat record is impressive to say the least. He used to teach in NC but I am not sure if he does that anymore. I have always been amazed at the fluidness he shows when reloading or transitioning. I would love to have those skills! You can see in his eyes he falls into the "not to be fruitcaged with" category:-)
  13. If I need an opinion on the AK, I would ask Sonny wayyyyyy before asking Haley or Vickers:-) If he mounts the site up front, that means it should be up front. Sonny IS an AK:-) On a side note, Mikhail was a pragmatist. He wouldn't have any issue with anything that made the rifle he designed more usable.
  14. I did not know they reloaded 7.62 in that manner. Interesting. Scary...but interesting:-) A hyper-loaded round could build up enough gas to blow the piston out like a missile. It would demolish the trunion and everything in its path. Good catch, Dan. -Dave
  15. That is one lucky Taliban. I was trying to figure that one out. Piston placed backwards and blew all the gas (and piston) through the tube and into the dust cover? Maybe not possible but a theory:-) An AK piston is a tough piece of pig iron and could cause a ton of damage. Bad, way beyond spec ammo?
