  1. @havok

I wear my 9mm here in Iraq like that alot, If you keep it more center line you shouldn't have an issue with shouldering a rifle.

Cheers bro. I ran my 1911 up there yesterday and it actually worked out pretty well once I moved it over to the right by a column. It wobbles around a little, but nothing major, and it's definitely secure. I'm gonna keep it up there.

  2. Cross posting because I forgot about this thread last night... :rolleye:

So this is the kit I'm refining for Sennybridge in April. Juggled some *suitcase* around since I had my M4, and indeed since I took these pics on Friday night.

The SCAR is awesome and is now not changing apart from POSSIBLY a PEQ-15 sometime down the road when the VFC comes out.

The biggest change since the pics below is that the TAG padded belt kit has gone. I've put the IFAK on the left side of the rear plate carrier, and the TT hard case with GPS on the right side in much the same place. The HSGI double pistol mag pouch on the RRV is replaced by the Maxpedition Rollypoly, and my multitool goes on my ACU pants belt. All this means I can completely lose the belt rig.

The only issue I have is that I miss my TAG dumper. I like it back there, hanging low, and the Maxpedition just doesn't seem as good. My muscle memory is causing to way overshoot it as well, because I keep aiming for my old TAG. I might look at rigging the TAG up to the RRV somehow, in the same place, just excluding the belt. I'll see how that goes.

Anyway, these should give you a rough idea. I'll get better pics sometime down the line, and I'm hoping some of the guys taking pics at Cerberus today (where I ran it with all the changes) put their pics up on the net, so I'll steal them and post them here too.

    Enjoy!

EDIT: Since I posted it last night I'm less sure of dropping the belt rig. I'm tempted to juggle the pouches round a little, but run the belt rig as well, just with less essential stuff on it, so I could dump it and still use the RRV on its own as a fighting rig. We'll see.

  3. Now with rail covers - I consider this basically done now. Simple, simple, simple...and it works flawlessly. Awesome gun. :)

As it sits with the rest of my gear at the moment (plus suppressor):

And my completed SCAR for use with this (I can run my Surefire Z2 on the right hand front rail but it's not on in this pic because it was dead weight)...

  5. @ withard: I'd hit it.

If someone said that about my girlfriend I'd punch them in the d*ck. Get back in your lane, bro.

Withard and rolling-thunder, you (or your missus) both have awesome kits. Very cool. RT, how do you find the Serpa there? I run my Safariland 6004 in a similar config on my RRV (ok so it's not technically a 6004 when it's on a MOLLE plate, but whatever) and I'm finding it gets in the way with shouldering my rifle a bit. Then again, I like to shoulder my long gun Chris Costa style (tucked right in there) so maybe it's just me.

  6. Fair enough. I didn't realise it was actually designed as an IFAK - I assumed you'd just drawn the cross on there and designated it as such. :)

Wrench Bender, very true mate, but surely if a guy goes down and he's in a position where moving him at all is going to be life-threatening (bullet lodged somewhere awkward, say, or a broken neck), having to roll him to access his IFAK would be a bad thing?

Not arguing, just wondering why Paraclete designed it to sit right back there. :)

  7. No offense, but if you've been inspired by the pics I think you have been, this is a long way off. It looks neat in its own way, but it's nothing like the photos I think you mean.

I'll try to dig them up when I have a spare minute (i.e. not right now) and I'll put them up if you want.

Looks kinda cool as-is, though, so I'm not knocking it too bad. :)

  8. Best rig in the world. I love mine to bits and wouldn't change it for the world.

An old pic - I've moved some stuff around a bit and added a couple of new bits (pistol mag pouches, back plate carrier, etc), but this is the newest I have of the rig on its own:

Wearing the rig - again, these are old pics (from War & Peace 2008):

Rubbish posed pics (rig is skewed off to one side, amongst other things), but at least the rig is nearly in its current form (back plate, etc). Still made some tweaks since this, but they're minor ones:

I'll get some new pics on Sunday when I run this, and I'll be running it at Phoenix Rising 3 as well... ;)

  9. Looks like they've taken the vertical pockets on the ACS and moved them to be horizontally-accessed. But that makes them almost inaccessible, so I can't see the point at all.

Other than that it looks almost exactly the same, feature-wise, as the ACS. Although it is substantially cheaper...

Couple of changes since I took these - has NKA sharpied on one side, and O POS on the other, and I'll be running ESS NVG Profiles with them when my Rx inserts arrive. Need a FG cateye band sometime, too.

It has stuff under the cover for running it uncovered, but I really, really like the look of covered lids. I can never bring myself to take it off.

  11. Not quite done (needs TangoDown rail covers, which are on the way) and maybe an FDE PEQ-15 down the road, but other than that, I figure I'll forget about this thread anyway so I might as well post it up. :)

Simple as. G&G SCAR-L, TD QD Stubby VFG, Hurricane EOTech 553 (with paintjob and homebrew laser sticker). And of course, an AAC SCAR-SD suppressor. :D

I really like it with the suppressor on there, but my god does it screw with the balance. It goes from awesome perfect balance, to surprisingly front-heavy when the suppressor is attached. Ah well, it looks awesome, so whatever.

  12. I'll be honest - the thought of hundreds of geeky overweight airsofters waddling around the safezone in ACSs (replica or not) is frankly terrifying...

I'm not professing to having a ripped body either (or not being geeky), but damn people, at least keep your armour on over it, please. And if your man-boobs are being squeezed around the side of your armour, then you have bigger issues (literally) and you should probably find a different form of exercise. :P
