Is there no way you can tap into the outer barrel and screw the sights on?
-
Never used them , have friends who do . But always found their prices to be expensive , especialy the uk store .

Could have been worse !
Could have been my one .........

Did it deform any further when it landed ? LolCan't say anymore. I read this thread and threw my gas tank out of the window!

Its not so much the legislation its the actual guidelines included that carry the worrying information . Ie , that no tank containing propane should be more than 80% filled at any time , to allow for the gasses natural expansion and instill a safety margin for any containers expansion . In canada they have already banned the use / sale of the kits/ valves used to fill Airsoft mags / tanks with propane .
Just for the record ,That legislation does apply to the uk to include all propane containers be they Airsoft , camping , household or industrial use .
The saving grace is that propane fires / explosions are very rare and usually caused by excessive heat Causing over expansion of the vessel or a naked flame in the vacinity of a damaged tank .
I am wondering if filling the tank to full capacity with propane / green with no movement / allowance for the gasses natural expansion is causing the deformation of the marui tank .
Some people will leave propane / green in the tank to save their seals etc , 134/144 would be a much safer bet for magazine / tank storage purposes .
I did not make this post for a panic effect I made it to enable newbies or people with no knowledge of safe gas handling / storage awAre of the safety aspects of using propane gasses. . Especialy the storage and safety guidlines regarding external heat sources and refilling propane containers
As aod has said there have been no reports of tank failure as of yet , but sensible and safe use would be reccomended ,ie no smoking / filling tanks near ignition sources etc would be highly advisable . Also do not store your guns , tanks , mags above or near heat sources . Ie radiators , fires etc in your house / home .

Propane tanks, regardless of size store propane liquid until it is used as either a liquid or vapor. All propane tanks are subject to rules based on safety and can only be filled to about 80%. Many people believe that propane tanks and butane tanks are the same but propane pressure is much higher than that of butane. This means propane tanks are subject to higher pressures and the two types of tanks are in fact very different and cannot be filled with either of the two LP Gases. Propane tanks are for storing only propane. This section covers related subjects such as: t
Taken from a later page in the same document / laws ..
I would stick to 134 a use with this gun

This may throw a spanner in the works for marui gas containers / tanks in the uk

Who said that the 870 didn't have blowback .. Lol

Its a case of listening to the gas going into the tank , once full you can hear the gas stop filling .if you try to fill it up like a mag it vents gas like its full when it is not .
-
Was thinking along the lines of the blind screw pin where the pins meet halfway from either side and screw together in the middle . , not sure of their technical name . But they usually have a dome cap or flat screw end . In the middle they screw together to make one pin . Don't think they make them small enough though . The other option would be to solder / braze son material onto their ends ( possibly a small washer ) to stop them pulling through the tank casing

The older inefficient tm guns hold up better than the newer more gas efficient designs , glocks eat slides on propane , 57 shears its lugs , mp7 its the nozzle , only the px4 and m9 seem to hold up out of the newer models , even the xdm cracks its slide on propane . Have seen quite a few recently .
-
Is it really. Cheaper in the long run when you take into account upgrades required ( metal slides etc ) and the reduced lifespan of the gun and accelerated wear on parts , not to mention the loss of warranty repairs ?
-
I wonder if it is possible to externally or internaly brace or strengthen the existing tanks or fit some form of bov to stop a pressure build up deforming it ?
-
144 a is easily available in the uk , iit may cost a bit more than propane but I just factor it in as normal running costs for a gun the same way I do with decent quality bbs . Repair costs for propane use can quite easily outstrip any savings made in the first place with Airsoft guns .

This is the trouble with imported goods . A lot of dangerous sub standard products end up on our shores and a lot do not conform to uk safety standards . If one of these tanks should ( god forbid ) cause injury to someone I can see a retailer being taken to the cleaners for selling unsafe goods
-
They obviously didn't test them before stating that .
They do work on green gas but for how long would be a better statement .
I think when it comes to any claims no one outside of apan will have a foot to stand on legally
Also it states in the manual 134 a with the 40c temp restriction. .
Be interesting to see if any 134 gas use problems arise .
-
The 870 runs brilliantly on 134/ 144 a , from what I have seen , why has everyone got a huge desire to run stronger gases . The mp7 had problems , the 57 , and now this gun ? Yet all work well on 144a .
-
If it splits at a seam and releases it gas its not so dangerous . But if it gives in and blows due to heat/ pressure build up it could be dangerous . Remember propane is highly flammable . So I would not be leaving your gun near any naked flames or heat sources whilst the tank is damaged .
I wonder if the build of this gun / conforms to any European gas safety build regulations . Even cigarette lighters have to and they carry minimal gas charges . Not hating just curious
-
+1 to this comment . Either heat or metal fatigue / lack of internal bracing , external strength capabilities seem to be the issue. , would not want that in my car or house if it decides to blow .Wow if that tank blows it could be very serious
Had a colleague who managed to take a chunk out of his wall and split his gun apart by hanging his fully charged / gassed up gbb rifle above a radiator which heated up the mag / gun , expanded the gas. / mag and blew , scared the absolute out of his family as they where not sitting far from it when it happened .the gun was finished , mag well shattered , receiver cracked , plastic split , that was with the mag encased in the gun ,if it was outside of the gun serious injury would have ensued .

Is it just me or did that only fire a few s hots . The rest looks like its doing nothing ??
-
Froglube also makes a damn good waterproofer if used on bits of guns subject to water ingress .
-
This is the reason I always buy from a shop rather than online . Any problems you can
Return it and get money back or replacement .
May be cheaper online but post / shipping for returns etc soon negates any savings you make on a purchase . , bummer
-
They work with other makes of shells , not just marui ones .. So packs of 3 are available if you don't use marui ones .
I am waiting for the shiny new thing rush to die down and it to find its levelled out price . Also gives me a chance to observe the early adopters ( guinea pigs ) faults and fails . Before commiting to a purchase .

Got a demo of one in pas yesterday .300 quid .
The cocking action / sound is epic Definetly a sound you will identify with this gun . Build quality / weight seems good . The 3/6 shot function Dosnt seem to change power at all . The loading door seems a lot stronger ( initial impression ) I hope it is as this is most shotguns first failpoint
Have heard it can be slam fired but am dubious of reliability/ damage occurring with this way of using it . Usually the death of shotguns when used this way , time will tell .
Am now awaiting a spas version to add to my collection .
How noticeable is cool down on this gun ??
