  1. Yeah i know what you mean, my barrel is 7.5, cant stand long barreled weapons! The DD RIS lite cost me £327 from midway uk. About 10 minutes after i bought it showed up as sold out on the page so i think i got the last one! Darkchild
  2. I will try that, though i have always preferred optics far to the rear for some reason (probably years of training with the susat and real close eye relief) thanks for commenting. Darkchild
  3. As posting in multiple threads seems to be the done thing, might as well put this here too. Darkchild
  4. The Micro T is a repro (the DD Ris is real tho ) Glad you like it, there's no crack on the MIAD, it's a mould line. Darkchild
  5. It occurred to me that i hadn't taken any pictures of my guns in a while. This is my Troy M7A1 cqb carbine, has served me for 18 months without a single problem, gleaming piece of kit. Put a fair bit of work into it, will list bits if anyone cares. Darkchild
  6. Indeed, allyness ftw. However, its not 1995 anymore and a giant smock is about as ally as wearing tropics in the snow, ie pointless. Actual combat has taught us that we need kit that fits properly, your better off just wearing a shirt as it integrates better with armour/load bearing gear. Darkchild
  7. Pad systems were trialled but they absorb sweat and become a hygeine problem after a couple of days hard work. The next gen helmet is looking at having a pad system with the pads covered in leather. The double popstud was brought in to assist with donning the helmet with a respirator (instead of using elastic/keyrings like we used to) Darkchild
  8. Looks nice, but you dont take helmets on Recces. Apart from that its a fine loadout. Darkchild
  9. x2 for that, I also own the specter replica, its heavier than the real one plus the reticule is too small. Darkchild
  10. well im military and i think its funny as *fruitcage*! Darkchild
  11. If i ever saw a real L/Col with a Pedobear patch i would literally ###### myself Darkchild
  12. This. Seriously, it may cost you a bit but it is usually worth ringing them, they are quite slow to update their site as stock turnaround is so fast (they are very popular with the British army these days) I would be wary of sites selling very similar kit too, only if you are hell bent on getting WAS kit, as the similar stuff is identical to earlier patterns of WAS stuff and not current gear. This mainly affects the colouring, the older WAS Tan was too light and the OD was too bright. Gear brands like Bulle and Built for Battle still use the old colourings and their construction is s
  13. I used Warrior pouches in Iraq and a RICAS Compact in Afghan and none of it ever failed me. Quality is generally better than blackhawk,on par with Tactical tailor, paraclete etc. QR buckles are standard. I cut an inch from each shoulder and re stitched the seams to make the vest less bulky, if you look at the TMV on uktactical,WAS TMV its very wide across the chest. So I streamlined it. And no,I dont find the orientation of my water affects my balance or comfort. Thanks for commenting:) Darkchild
  14. My current setup, a mixture of old and new, the new pouches should hopefully look battered after a few skirmishes. the rig is an old Warrior assault systems TMV in TAN that i sprayed and modified, the pouches are a mix of WAS, 5.11 and blackhawk. As with all my loadouts, its all about practicality as opposed to looking pretty (except the patch ) Darkchild
  15. I Too have one of the initial production run UBACS with the green torso, bought it at the end of 2007. I prefer the brown torso ones. @solid Snake: first thing i do when i get a new UBACS is remove all the padding, that ###### is too hot. Darkchild
  16. Thanks all for your advice, looks like i will steer clear of CA for now! anyone have any experience with the ARES G36C? Darkchild
  17. thought i'd post this here rather than start a thread. After my disappointment at being unable to purchase an SA80 from z1 i've decided to go full circle and buy a G36C (my first AEG was a TM G36C in 2002). My question is simply, who makes the best one? I appreciate any response. EDIT: I'm only asking because i was going to go for a CA model but after the "CA quality" thread im not so sure... Darkchild
  18. i've been waiting 12 weeks for my Ares sa80 from zero one now. they said it would take 3 weeks. I'm going to cancel my order. Darkchild
  19. yep, it's MOLLE. It also comes with 2 straps to attach it to a belt should you wish to stabilise it, but as i throw it off and on a lot in the field, i took these off. Darkchild
  20. It's good, got it from Blackhawk, i dont wear it on the front so i wouldnt know, but it is comfy on my back. Darkchild
  21. @MinAmmo: Ross takes some pretty good shots doesn't he! Darkchild
  22. You wouldn't go to all the effort of filling a sandbag to use as a shooting rest (unless one happens to be there already) snipers carry beanbags for this purpose. As for the defence thing, each man carries 1 sandbag, this is not enough by any stretch of the imagination to provide cover for anybody. If you have time to shovel sand for sandbags, you have time to dig a trench. Darkchild
  23. What a REMFy response! The reason we carry sandbags on our webbing is so the Reserve section in a platoon attack can ferry fresh mags to the firesupport section and take their empties back to be refilled. Everyone carries one so anybody can be tasked to do this on short notice. Another common use for the sandbag is for the Section 2-ic to collect everybody's waterbottles up for replen when in a harbour area. Darkchild
