  1. Then you have not bought a decent dropleg before, failing that i can only assume you haven't adjusted previous ones properly. Darkchild
  2. The "upgraded" LSW is a massive bag of fail, all they've done is take the outrigger off and put a RIS on it. Big whoop. Darkchild
  3. More 4 Rifles, first 3 are from R Comany who got back in November, other 4 are from A company who are still out there. R Company A company Darkchild
  4. Umm, this is about the only decent shot i got of one of my modded handguards, Basrah circa 2007. Nothing special, just a simple bolted on rail. EDIT: found another one Darkchild
  5. Dont worry about it mate, my unit were bolting rails onto our handguards for years before the DD handguards came out. Darkchild
  6. the Acog was never "dropped" as it was a uor and was never supported in the first place. The Elcan is a long term replacement for the SUSAT. Our version is a fixed x4 mag with a piggy backed red dot, with throw arms levers for mounting. It has a battery powered reticule in the main sight with various levels of brightness (pretty much turning it into a x4 red dot) which can be turned off. I dont know if this is standard with other Elcans as ive only seen a couple of variants but it works pretty well. Darkchild
  7. Not forgetting that there are also minute variations that make a big difference. Eg, old 95s fade a lot faster (and differently) to current 95s. Windproofs turn a completely different shade when faded again, tropics look different to begin with and fade into a strange tone all of their own. There are a lot of small variations in DPM tone, A lot of repro stuff is a lot darker than issued stuff too. Not worth thinking about IMO, it all looks cooler when its old anyway. Darkchild
  8. yeah, read my review of the helmet in the link at my Signature. As for the Camouflage, lots of patterns were tested, including Hybrid 6, which is the current pattern that all PECOC trial gear is being made in. The finaly camouflage is a 6 colour DPM made by Crye, which doesnt exist just yet. EDIT: Ha ha that ebay link is a load of ######. That trial shirt is from the CT1 trial from 2006, when the trial pattern was a slightly washed out DPM. I have 3 of those shirts that i use for ranges and field work. I also have 2 pairs of trousers, 1 smock and 1 UBACS in the same washed out p
  9. That is the current gen of PECOC armour and helmet. I will be reviewing it in harsh detail soon. Darkchild
  10. No, the clothing pattern (just to be clear, the CLOTHING, not the camo pattern, i know it will cause confusion to some) is pretty much locked down. Think ACU cut shirts and trousers, with removable foam pads. The new UBACS is nearly the same but with seamless shoulders and less pads. Darkchild
  11. Yes its an interim helmet, it is in fact the old UKSF counter terrorist helmet re marketed as a new helmet. The PECOC system (complete) will be issued in 2011, providing they dont get delayed too much (hint: they will). Gentex ones were scrapped after they didnt meet the coverage requirements of the medical board, they were too high cut at the back. Darkchild
  12. Nope, for that you'll need a pecoc Helmet/Armour and the new crye British multicam (of which no pictures exist so dont ask) Darkchild
  13. That is osprey assault (not technically osprey at all as it was a completely seperate design, just uses osprey plates) The first sets are rolling out now with the RIP currently going on. My Bn's A Coy have been issued their Mk7 and Osprey assault, i imagine i will get some pics back within a month or 2. Darkchild
  14. Osprey has been out for years now, a lot of sets have backfilled to the UK for training purposes. They wont be issued Osprey til they get to theatre, but they will train in it in the UK. Darkchild
  15. Nice looking Shooter Ubar Darkchild
  16. PF are considered Elite, so probably get away with a few more things than the rest of us. Darkchild
  17. probably. They will get sent away to be re-coated. Unless they are in sniper platoon, where they may be lucky and be allowed to keep it like that. Darkchild
  18. At the end of the day, its your kit, do what you want. I just pipe up with my knowledge now and then to inform people of the SOPs for certain things. Also, i have friends that are currently in the greenzone wearing painted Ospreys, so you might as well spray it green if you get one. Darkchild
  19. Its called an ECBA (enhanced combat body armour) and it goes over a shirt, but under a smock (to access the pockets) if you have seen photos of people wearing ECBA over a smock then they are probably non combat units. Darkchild
  20. You just reminded me, here's a few pics of me at the mall in July I agree with everything you said about it. Some of the best marshalling ive ever seen, but the main passageway definately needs more cover. Also, its the only place i can justify using a dump pouch (i fill it with grenades ) Darkchild
  21. I do this stuff for a living, so i give myself a yellow card. If i hadnt pointed it out nobody probably would have noticed, but by giving myself a hard time it reminds me not to do it in future. Anyone know if there's any GZ weekender photos up yet? (full albums, as opposed to 1 or 2 pictures) Darkchild
  22. unfortunately im not going to be there (its in Cyprus) as i am part of a much larger Exercise most of this month, but i will tell you guys the results (if any, these things have a habit of going nowhere for years). Also, im trying to negotiate a complete set of PECOC gear for myself, so fingers crossed! Darkchild
  23. Everything in that picture has been scrapped, that pic is years old. the next phase of PECOC trials is this month, ill tell you all when any decisions get made on kit, camo patterns etc. Darkchild
