Nice looking Shooter Ubar

PF are considered Elite, so probably get away with a few more things than the rest of us.
Darkchild

probably. They will get sent away to be re-coated. Unless they are in sniper platoon, where they may be lucky and be allowed to keep it like that.

Kyloned L85A2?!
I'm sure that pleased the RSM greatly.
Who cares, it's war.

At the end of the day, its your kit, do what you want. I just pipe up with my knowledge now and then to inform people of the SOPs for certain things.
Also, i have friends that are currently in the greenzone wearing painted Ospreys, so you might as well spray it green if you get one.

About the flakvest, I've seen alot of pictures where the wear the flakvest like I do.
/Lajjvo
Its called an ECBA (enhanced combat body armour) and it goes over a shirt, but under a smock (to access the pockets) if you have seen photos of people wearing ECBA over a smock then they are probably non combat units.

I !!!!ing love this picture: First picture to come out of the Mall of me.
*snippysnip*
Interesting site, a damn lot smaller than people say, confusing, excellent marshals, briefings far too long, more cover needed in the central area where main briefings are held, otherwise excellent.
I'll put a full site review up at some point soon.
You just reminded me, here's a few pics of me at the mall in July
I agree with everything you said about it. Some of the best marshalling ive ever seen, but the main passageway definately needs more cover. Also, its the only place i can justify using a dump pouch (i fill it with grenades )

I do this stuff for a living, so i give myself a yellow card. If i hadnt pointed it out nobody probably would have noticed, but by giving myself a hard time it reminds me not to do it in future.
Anyone know if there's any GZ weekender photos up yet? (full albums, as opposed to 1 or 2 pictures)

unfortunately im not going to be there (its in Cyprus) as i am part of a much larger Exercise most of this month, but i will tell you guys the results (if any, these things have a habit of going nowhere for years).
Also, im trying to negotiate a complete set of PECOC gear for myself, so fingers crossed!

New DPM kit in the pipeline

Everything in that picture has been scrapped, that pic is years old.
the next phase of PECOC trials is this month, ill tell you all when any decisions get made on kit, camo patterns etc.

Ha ha i know, i was doing it on purpose to scare the enemy!!! The whole "BOP BOP, im Gonna bust a cap in YO *albatross*!" was part of it if you noticed
Did you see me Dual wielding 1911s when we stormed the nest? that was the most uncharacteristic moment of my entire airsofting career!
there is a reason for the utility pouch though, i carry my camera in it, that pic was taken with my camera, the camera then went back in.

indeed, i want to replace the rig with a green one and change my droplegs to black (im soooooo over tan gear )
Darkchild

Not many pics of me at the GZ weekender but here's one in action
Note my open utility pouch, it stayed open for about 2 minutes. This is poor drills.

This is about half of our team at the GZ weekender this morning.(a fair few couldnt make it this year)
DCLU.
Im the one to the right of the man mountain in the ACUs.

strange, guess some people just have absolute faith in their electronic gizmos! (not sure if i would tho)

Is it me or does the guy in the first phot have no back up irons?
Darkchild

Nothing is really "hanging" off my belt, I have my droplegs really tights so the belt only acts as stability to stop them swinging around.
I reload back into my mag pouches, i dont like dump pouches. I'd carry one in real life but ive never felt the necessity in Airsoft.

couple more of my Battalion in Afghan at the moment
First one is the Sniper who i mentioned in the DPM thread has 47 (at the time of writing) confirmed kills.
Second is one of the American snipers they have working with them
My boys are the scruffiest badasses ive ever met.
Makes me proud to be a GreenJacket.

Ditto, i wasnt allowed to fire a weapon with gloves on at all during training (including live firing in Brecon in November) its a safety thing. Once i got to battalion i could do what i want ( i always fire with my SOLAGS on these days, train how you fight and all that) but in depot gloves were a no no.

yeah, they were *suitcase*. Piece of material between thumb and fore finger way too tight, cut into the web of your hand, wrist too short, couldnt tuck them into your smock in the rain (sorta defeats the point of goretex).
Apparently the next batch will be vastly improved.

Dont worry about it, i despise pretty much all issued kit bar the L85A2. Thats why im on the infantry trials team, to try and make the ###### they bring into service a little bit better.

Dark child 60lbs is that including the plates and liner? just what did you carry on your osprey to make it weigh 60 odd lbs?
Grim
Ammo.
And im not a guineas pig, they are the trial troops. I assess the kit as part of the trials team (and steal as much gucci kit as possible)
Darkchild

Why would you need tape to secure the velcro? My Osprey used to weigh about 60lb in Iraq and the velcro held up fine. You should just cut the collar attachments off if you dont like them digging into your neck, a lot of our guys do that too.
But feel free to ignore me, its your rig

As Angel Stated im in 4 Rifles. SOPs on purchasing kit varies from unit to unit, but we were Greenjackets so we pretty much do what we want Incidentally, the infantry role has become more special forces "esque" in recent years as UKSF have released a lot of their burden onto us in the form of Strike ops (direct action if your a Yank). So we undergo a lot of specialist training.
Im not special forces, i always try to make that very clear, but i have done a tour as SOF (a US term, we just say we're attached to SF) and have been trained in a number of techniques that would be classed SF.
But im not a member of UKSF, and probably never will be.
Thanks for the comments, im sure "ninja 9" would appreciate them!

Osprey has been out for years now, a lot of sets have backfilled to the UK for training purposes.
They wont be issued Osprey til they get to theatre, but they will train in it in the UK.
