  1. I ran a little test yesterday (stock bucking, black H-nub, ~600fps). Results: - 30x40cm target at 50 meters: 8 hits out of 10 with .29 SGMs - 30x40cm target at 70 meters: 2 hits out of 10 with .29 SGMs - Most of the misses were very close to target - .40s produced great range (well over 80m), but wider spread (but no wild flyers) - hopup consistency is not good enough for sniping (some shots underhopped) - no misfeeds Conclusions: - Overall performance is OK - Hopup needs to be worked on (replacing stock bucking, putting spacers in the chamber) - 4x PSO-1 scop
  2. All I can say, it's much more solid than the Atoz/KA SVD cheek rest...
  3. I fired around 20-30 BBs at 35 and 40 meters. Accuracy is good, with an occasional flyer. Not as consistent as my VSR, but pretty good. The hopup setup described above is working fine. There is enough hop to spin .40s. Here is a pic before I start to remove the lollypop coloured finish from the wooden parts.
  4. Madbull/Devil .40. I'll do some testing later today.
  5. Installed the black H-nub and the stock hopup rubber in the hop unit, it's working fine now, no misfeeds at all. Cleaning the barrel was also a good idea, I found some grey stuff on the patches. Despite I cut the Systema M160 back about 2cm, the rifle is pushing 600 fps. A 20c 11v 1600mah Lipo is cycling the gearbox effortlessly. I think I'll downgrade to 550fps. Shooting tests later.
  6. I don't think any other brand/type will fit... As a sidenote, Guarder 70 and Madbull 60 bucking is too large/thick for the hopup unit.
  7. Finished upgrading the gearbox with a shortened Systema M160 spring. I know nothing about the blue Madbull 60 bucking, so I think I'll go for the Guarder 70 + H-nub combo. The Guarder will leak some fps, but produces more hop and more consistent at a wide range of temperatures.
  8. Counterassassin, Thanks, it's a relief... Do you also have the fishbone spacer or H-nub installed? I have the blue Madbull 60 and Guarder 70 buckings, and Deepfire H-nubs at hand...
  9. One thing I noticed looking down the bore... There is no mirror polish like in my steel Laylax VSR barrel. Yes the hopup has really wide adjustability. I checked everything, testing again tomorrow morning. BTW, what's the point of the spring around the inner barrel when the hopup chamber is fixed to the outer barrel?
  10. That's an "interesting" conclusion, unless you swapped the two barrels and used the same BB, same bucking, bucking sleeve, same fps output and variation. Without these it's hard to say what makes your CA8 more consistent. Anyway, my SVD is having a problem out-of-box. It produces negative hopup effect (slamming BBs to the ground at 30-35m). Hopup rubber looks fine, adjustment is working, groups are very consistent, barrel is clean, used two different BBs... Anyone else experienced this? (Serial no. 1100) Since I had to disassemble the rifle, I checked how the outer barrel is fixed t
  11. Mine just arrived. It's solid like a brick. No wobble or creaking anywhere at all. The wood is too cheesy looking for my taste: sanding paper time! Is it normal that the slider on the rear sight has no finish?
  12. If the rifle is such high quality, why replacing the inner barrel? It will have minimum impact on fps and accuracy unless RS installed a really low quality barrel...
  13. My late Atoz SVD (RS on the way ):
  14. There was a thread with pics comparing APS2 and Atoz piston, the Atoz had larger diameter. The problem with outer barrel is the length and weight vs small locking surface and miniature grub screws. It will start to wobble (especially on a sling) unless you modify the whole thing. Getting it aligned properly is also pain.
  15. Atoz/KA SVD wasn't compatible with APS2 pistons... If this is a direct copy, then good luck fixing the badly designed outer barrel assembly and hopup, plus working out some kind of solution to keep the nozzle fully in battery. That were the weakest points on my Atoz/KA. PS: The real steel 4x24 PSO/SVD scope is a piece of cr*p, so no worries about buying an ACM copy.
  16. Sanding paper time, as soon as I get the rifle!
  17. I also think it's too shiny and bright. My Atoz SVD looked like this:
  18. When was the last time when you saw a copy of ANY Real Sword product.
  19. Thanks for the details, I just ordered one! I think you can fix the selector with "liquid metal" then reshape it with a file. I'd modify the foregrip to recharge the battery without removing it. What kind of battery you guys use with high fps setups? (500+)
  20. Thanks guys. Kimkafwan, can you elaborate, go into details on the "gbbr outer barrel"? I'm particularly interested in how the very long (and heavy) outer barrel is fixed to the receiver since it was the weakest spot on the Atoz/KM SVD. I'm gonna order mine as soon as it's not out-of-stock anywhere.
  21. What I'd like to see more information about is 1. Outer barrel to receiver fit? How solid? Any play? 2. How is the outer bbl fixed to receiver? 3. How the stock hopup is handling heavy BBs? 4. Magazine wobble? 5. Magazine working with heavy BBs? 6. FPS consistency with high quality BBs? 7. Heard some 1st hand reports that trigger pull is stiff. Is that true? 8. Any info when the next batch is coming out?
  22. Looks good with this scope, hopefully it's better than the horrible 4x PSO-1/POSP. I wonder when the next batch will hit the shops, it's out of stock everywhere.
