  5. Just got done putting it together. Going to be putting a VTLOR upper to complete it. and
  6. New question: Is the color variance from actual hue or age of the lower? Even just a year of exposure changes a receiver's RGB value appreciably.
  7. excellent review fareast. I'm in the middle of a VTLOR build myself and this was perfect timing and information.
  8. EXCELLENT REVIEW FAREAST! I'm so glad this gun is on the market, even if it is overpriced in the US due to a certain company acquiring sole distribution rights... Even being a CA M249 owner I'm glad to see this gun available to more players - I've always said there should be 1 support gun per every four man fireteam to make airsoft more realistic. The A&K means more players can get into the support gunner role without embarrassing us all with boxmags or c-mags on M4s or G36s, and WITHOUT sacrificing to the devil of plastic *cough* Star *cough*. Well done. -------------
  9. My new desktop, poor attempt at artistry EDIT: ugh, Imageshack's compression ruins the image but you get the idea. The highres original I made for my desktop looks better.

  11. Reading thru this thread and its like deja vu two years ago and the CA release. Welcome to the support gunning brotherhood my brothers! The airsoft world needs more suppression out there, lets stop this flitting about of the young (and fast) tirts. "Run n gun? Ol' painless is waitin for ya." Anyhow, going to do you all a massive favor, re: bearings. VXB VXB has absolutely nothing to do with airsoft. But what they do do is make bearings. Ball bearings. Kick *albatross* ball bearings. VXB sells bearings in pretty much any dimension you can imagine. And what's more they will k
  12. Darkcell, that is gorgeous. Negative - this is a pseudo Noveske Leonidas - minus the huge frigging scope. The suppresor is on there in leue of the Noveske flashider because, a: I already had one, and b: it provides another layer of cushioning for the free-float barrel. I bang into things... and, c: the stock ICS barrel protrudes beyond the ris so if I put the true Noveske flashider on there it would look dumb: fat-skinny-then fat again Got a couple flip up sights on the way then its completely done. Maybe an artistic picture to follow. Anyway, I like it - perfect b
  13. Finished with my latest: I have flipup sights on the way but probably won't use them. I like it as is. I had a G27 grip on there but took it off (after much work to make it fit) because in the end I decided I liked the look without it.
  14. Coop - you're in the states. Check the prices on CA's support guns. I think you'll make your choice from there (do *not* use the Hong Kong prices, the US is getting a sweet deal on CAs). Then, if you still want a ranger, buy the foregrip for $47. CA M249 MkII. The King.
  15. Nope and (maybe) yep: Its the M1 Garand on the bottom. (which is kind of sort of M14-ish) Thanks for the compliments. I have alot more mounting to do for things like clips and my gear. Getting it all into a closet lets me lock it safe for my soon-to-be-crawling baby boy. Lord Sex - that set up of yours has to be the best Airsoft Room I've ever seen. Kudos on an excellent setup. I almost made one of your pics my desktop.
  16. Just finished my gun closet. Ok not finished, but V1 complete. Need more pegboard! only half my guns are up and no room for gear or such. BTW - one of those is real steel. Guess?
  17. First skirmish report for my R85. The thing performed beautifully. Best hundred bucks I've spent in airsoft so far.
  18. I feel I kinda know my way around AEGs now, and nothing I've seen on this Army seems cheap or poorly constructed. Maybe I got a ringer like rolling-thunder, but my gun is extremely solid. Much more solid than the Star M249s and L85s I've fondled. Granted I havent' skirmished with them, just held them. I beat the living ###### out of my guns, and I have an event coming up next weekend. So I'll post how this thing stands up. Note: I intend to run the M60 thru the wash more though.
  19. Honestly - when its this easy to fix its easier for me to fix it than go to the hastle of shipping and waiting. ALL my guns break sooner or later, all of them. And they all need maintenance soonr or later so small bring-it-up-to-snuff work like this is no big deal to me. I've solved it - for now - by putting a couple swatches of duct tape inside the mag well. Mags work nice and snug now. I was just hoping someone had found a screw or bolt to tighten that controled the magewell's inner diameter. Ah well. I'll probably get some teflon tape later that'll also bond better to metal fo
  20. Mine just arrived today from Uncompany. Wonder if anyone has attacked the magazine problem from a gun point of view and not modding the magazines? I read every post of all 45 pages of this thread and did not see that posted. I have dozens of mags that all work flawlessly in my 4 other stanag guns (various models) so I will not be modding my mags for this gun as much as I love it. But other than the one that came with it, which fits nicely, not one of my other mags so much as pretends to stay up in the gun, they all fall out the moment I let go. I am seating them properly. If I hold
  21. Man those L85 pictures are tastey! I cannot wait until mine arrives (on its way from Hong Kong as we speak). Meanwhile here is my Arsenal:
