I tried putting a thin layer of epoxy on my z parts hammer. The bolt no longer shows signs of new wear on it. I also found that this kept my stock WE 74 hammer from snapping just as well as putting a sorbo on it. So maybe epoxy might turn out to be a cheap easy fix for most WE gbbs.

My 74u finally hit the 70k mark on stock internals. Seems all that is needed is some small buffer on the hammer like Renegade mentioned a couple years back. I used a sorbo pad on mine and glued an eraser to buffer the bolt. Wear is minimal. I use a pencil and rub graphite on my hammer and sears to smooth out the action instead of lube, and maybe that helped a bit, but it probably didn't.

Hopefully no funny mag taps for the g3.

Imagine them making the mags curve towards the shooter.

Seems the MP5 is WE's most solid release to date. Only issue reported here was a barrel and bucking change. This should mean whenever they release the G3 it'll be a solid performer as well. WE's come a long way.

WE is releasing a steel set for the AK platform. Supposedly CNCd. If it's as nice as the MP5 receivers, we have a better replacement as far as specs go hopefully.

Doesn't it cost more to get set up with a GHK? Mags for the WE run about 30USD. Significantly cheaper. Along with it is the aftermarket support. Lower cost and longevity.

I've noticed that my efficiency is less with the Merlin than with the stock unit. That and the felt recoil is slightly more than stock.

New routers would be awesome. So far I've had to slowly remove material with a dremel to get mine to work. I bought ten spare routers because I was expecting that I'll need practice to mate them perfectly with the nozzle
-
Alright. It finally warmed up a bit today. About 50F outside. after a hundred or so shots, everything is functioning better. Still not as great of recoil as I feel my gun should be giving but then again, it's cool outside. Once it heats back up to normal, I'm sure everything will work itself out. I do get the occasional light striking though. Not sure what's causing it though. Overall, as long as you get a TM spec slide that's drop in like prog4 or guns modify, etc. it's perfect.

The router fits with the nozzle tightly but not so tight that the nozzle gets jammed or the slide won't retract. My nozzle does seem to return slowly back into the BBU though. I will try to break it in. That seems like the only reason at this moment. Thanks for the tip Volante.

After fitting, everything seems perfect until firing. I had to shave the router down nearly flush with the feed lip to allow the nozzle to pass through without getting jammed. After that every moves freely, but when I go to shoot, the gun doesn't cycle all the way most of the time. Granted this was at 30F so it was pretty cold. However, my hicapa with an aluminum slide, just like my 1911, functioned perfectly in this whether with a stock TM BBU. I'm boggled as far as a solution right now. Thoughts anyone? I was thinking since the nozzle is larger that it would be able to use more gas to push the slide back, but my results don't match that. What I don't understand is how the stock unit with the stock router works fine in cold weather but the Merlin and its router doesn't. The slide is smooth to rack and the nozzle mates with the router just right. I'm using a cut 150% recoil spring as well, but I think it's not an issue as Wolf is using one as well in his steel frame. Any ideas would be hot guys.

I've just received mine. Doing fitment on it at the moment. Got the black colored one and ended up having to shave all of it off so far because of the guarder kit being so tight. Packaging was excellent. Very pleasing to the eye and though I received no shipping confirmation, it came in in under two weeks, even during lunar New Years. I must say, I'm impressed. I'll update again soon as I fit the BBU in and run some test. Too cold outside at the moment.

indeed there is. That with a SAI slide. Most the weight would be in the back. Makes for good felt recoil.

I've always loved pistols but I think I may become an addict. So many gorgeous 1911 variants out there and now there's an amazing BBU to match it. If only I had the money. For now one gun a season is how I've been operating. Wonder how long it'll take to receive mine? I'm anxious.
-
So far, how has the BBU been with an aluminum slide? Any unusual wear or chances of the slide getting blown off?
-
Bit the bullet and just ordered one now. Can't wait to receive mine. Sadly though I'll have to do some fitment since it's going into a guarder slide. Only TRP kit I could find. Had to really file down the stock TM BBU to make it smooth like butter. I have no doubts that this is a great product and am willing to put in the work needed. Will update soon as I get mine.

That's perfect. I wanted to get the Merlin with the standard flute valve but it only had two routers, so that kind of disuaded me. I'll definitely pick one up as soon as my next pay check comes in.

Will there eventually be routers separate for purchase?

Does anyone know where to buy spare mag catches. Mine came broken so I have to hold the mag in just to fire the darn thing.
-
Anyone know where to find low caps?
-
You know, that's something I didn't think about.. Derp. I used it in a game a couple weeks ago, was over 100*F. I mostly use HPA guns/tap everything for HPA so I forgot about propane/GG and temperature. Haha jeez I feel stupid.
It's still working, so I'm going to put some o-rings on the recoil spring for now to buffer it and a cut spring on the back plate.
100F should be just fine. It's about 100F everyday here in Texas and I've run nearly 15K rounds since I got it. I think you might have just got a lemon. If anything maybe the tolerances were really off making the parts unable to cope with the energy transfers.
-
Well, I'm in Houston, Texas, so the lowest we get around here is about around 0C. But our winter seems to only last for a month. I forgot that gas efficiency would be different for you guys since you'll have different atmospheric conditions. Here I get more humidity and am located fairly close to the equator. Barometric pressure here is also little higher, my efficiency should improve a bit more since gases go from high to low pressure, but since it's already high gas won't be so willingly to leave the mag. Silly me.

WE's pistol have been pretty good year round. Quite positive it can perform at low temps. If the G18c can still full auto dump a standard mag with slide lock and another mags worth of shots, there's no reason why the P226 can't.
-
I think WE valves and TM valves are different spec to accomodate the metal and green gas use in WE vs. the plastic and recommended 134a gas in TM, so you might get less performance with TM valves.
Yea. I noticed that the holes on the output valve for the TMs was slightly smaller. It's fine though. It brings me about 290 fps and lets me shoot 3 full mags with lock back. Recoil stayed the same though. I made sure I wasn't losing any compression by shimming the gas route bucking. All is good now. No leaks and better efficiency. Couldn't be happier right now.

Trigger pulled and nothing happens. Found out the trigger was moving around on the spacer. Enough that the right side trigger notch didn't engage the trigger bar. Nothing a few aeg shims can't remedy. Anyone else have the same issue?
