  1. The Galil is the old FTC gas powered Galil. I filled in some of the screw holes, sanded back the dark varnished wood grips and gave the whole thing a worn looking paint job. Apart from that it's just a straight FTC galil.
  2. An image of my Galil ARM, with a suitably desert looking backdrop (my back garden at the momment ) I stripped the varnish off the handguard and refinished them to look more like Israeli issue galil grips.
  3. If you can get the Sopmod to fire in "semi" so to speak it will work and decompresses the spring. The latch never really seems to work on mine as it never seems to actually catch on anything when you use the allen key, and as mentioned before the instructions are not exactly the best at pointing anything out... If you can get it to fire single rounds i'd try that, it's relatively easy Regarding power, i have not chrono'd mine but i seriously doubt it is putting out 400fps+ At a distance of about a foot it fires through both sides of a coke can, but cannot fire through the top (th
  4. I've never really used the latch, what i normally do is when i finish firing i carefully fire several shots in single fire (by squeezing the trigger very lightly and quickly so it just makes contact) and that returns the spring to the "relaxed" or uncompressed position as it does in most AEG's. I did try the latch the first time but thought it was easier just to fire it like above. I have now got quite used to firing single shots with the Sopmod, you have to figure out just how much to squeeze the trigger and for how long...
  5. The flashider is removeable, at two points... the "expansion chamber" part on the real steel (large bit before the flashider) and the flashider itself both unscrew with 14mm- threads, so you can mount a silencer etc. at two lengths. To be accurate to real life the expansion chamber should be removed and the silencer fitted on the first thread.
  6. thanks for the pics Donnie. sopmod with an eotech = very nice Might have to give in and fork out for an eotech now... been trying to resist, but i think that's gone and done it.
  7. Donnie, over in one of the other picture threads, your star UMP had an eotech on it, if possible could you put up a pic of the eotech on your Sopmod. I trying to decide whether to get an eotech for mine or not you see...
  8. Maz have to agree on most of those points... The look and feel of the Sopmod is excellent. I also agree, the biggest faults i can find are the fixed charging handle, the battery problems (as everyone seems to have picked up on) and the lack of semi auto. Not all the real sopmods have sling points though, so technically that can still be realistic, if annoying. The sliding stock catch on mine was pretty tough to use at first, but it should soon wear in. I find the easiest way to sort the stock is much like oikoik said, hold the gun with your right hand on the pistol gr
  9. Oikoik is correct the rear sight is pretty much there for show. This is not a gun on which iron sights are really a useful option, a scope (red dot works best) is really needed. I have not had a problem with my outer barrel working loose, although mine appeared to have thread lock or something similiar also securing it around the grub screw/joint when it arrived. As i no longer use the normal battery compartment (use a PEQ) i have now put a dab of superglue where the fake gas regulator meets the outer barrel. Barrel wobble is now zero, as long as the gas regulator part is screwed in tig
  10. Agreed on the heavy comment, the only thing rifle i've had that was heavier in weight was a para minimi... the Sopmod is rather front heavy though, especially with the stock retracted. I found that the hop up is very easy to turn, although once set, i haven't noticed any slipping from where it was set.
  11. I have the newer style foregrip for the realsteel K so i don't know if they have slightly different internal dimensions or something but i can still fit a standard mini 8.4V battery in the foregrip on mine, without any modification to the rifles front end. When i put the mini in i have to tilt it slightly to get it to fit, but it goes in quite easily. I've just received and fitted my realsteel dual optics, so when i take a pic of the rifle now, i'll take a shot of what i mean about positioning the battery.
  12. Agreed it's one of the best looking and most solid guns i have handled in quite a while. I have still to use it for a proper game, but test firing etc. i have had no probs so far. Post your views on it when you've had a chance to try it out properly... the more the merrier.
  13. Another person who found changing the battery awkward... a Peq box is so much easier on the Sopmod.
  14. I got it from a guy over on ASCUK. I am not sure where he got it from though, but it's almost brand new. I'll ask where he bought it. www.egun.de (thanks to unimatrix for the link a few pages back) is a good auction sight for getting realsteel accessories for the G36, I got my foregrip from a guy in germany on there. Only problem is, it's all in german and not all sellers ship overseas.
