Burke
I know nothing about gbb or gas guns at all I just got a steal on ebay for a TM1911. Can I use it stock with duster? Or is propane the best way to go? I plan on keeping it totally stock for now.
ruchik
TM guns have no problem it seems running on propane. The Guarder full metal kits aren't too pricey either, so when the time comes to replace the slide, you can go the whole hog and turn the gun full metal.
Burke
Cool, now what about running it stock on duster and avoiding the smelly stuff?
ruchik
Japanese guns are generally designed to run on duster. You won't have any problems running it on duster for a good, long time. Although I will be honest, TM guns are a lot more fun on green.
realsteel
Ok im wondering since Donut put a 5.1 slide on his 1911 without the spacer will a 5.1 slide work on a TM without a spacer?
Fuser
He does a lot of modding; you should PM him about it. It might required modifying the frame/slide, or it might not.
chris u'5
I'm looking to replace the stock outer barrel on my TM 1911A1 as I find it a bit shiny. Can someone recommend a good replacement. I would be very grateful for any help. Chris

angel_wings
Is it true that Hi-capa Chambers are compatible with the m1911? I know some are but I want to check they all are before I go ahead and order the part! Cheers Wings EDIT: Oh and same question for Outer barrels! EDIT No.2: Also has anyone put a Hi-capa slide on there M1911? I know how to, but I was wondering how they perform with the slide spacer?
chris u'5
roughen it up with some sandpaper? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mmm...possibly, but I would be a bit worried about making a mess of it. Thanks though. Chris
chris u'5
The overall consensus seems to be that the PGC kit for the TM 1911a1 is the best on the market, would that be correct? Also could I ask if I was to purchase this kit from a H.K. retailer, would I be able to send my gun and the kit to a U.K. retailer and pay them to install it for me? I'm unsure if this is the "done thing" If it is, does anyone have any recommendations of the best place to do this for me? Many thanks, Chris
realsteel
Im wondering what the Tanio spacer is, is it just a pice a metal or something else..maybe i can make one..

Many thanks, Chris <{POST_SNAPBACK}> To answer all your questions, Yes, PGC makes the nicest kit, it has a great finish and deep engravings but it is much more expensive than a Guarder kit, which might be a better choice. With many places you can send the gun, but I recommend writing them first and asking them as to avoid any legality issues. Since PGC just released a huge wave of their DX kits for the TM 1911, I suppose many retailers would do it. Try UNCompany first. And just to be clear, do you own a TM 1911 at the moment? If you don't it might just be cheaper to get the UNCompany Custom PGC TM 1911, which already has everything installed.
chris u'5
Thanks Render, Yes, I do currently own a TM 1911. Cost isn't really an issue. I am looking for more of a collection piece, so it sounds like PGC is the way to go. I was really looking for a UK retailer to do the work. I'm sure it would be much less hassle. angel_wings
Another question! What options are there for rear sights on the 1911? E.g. have people modded RS sights to fit, or are there after market sights sold anywhere? (I haven't seen any) Thanks Wings
Wege
bugger all option for the rear sights. Just with the PGC deluxe kit from memory? The marui ones don't just slide in, but also have to be inserted from below. Dammit
Carbine
I have a real stock M1911 sight on mine. It needed a bit of filing, but matches the finish of the PGC kit perfectly!
realsteel
Right now im looking at A Tai-Wan slide ive never heard of this brand is it any good? http://www.uncompany.com/pageproductdetails.asp?prodid=7849 and what about the classic arms frame for the TM M1911? Carbine
Wege, as I recall, I filed about 0.5mm from the wider part of the dovetail fitting on the rear sight to get it to fit. Not a big project at all and definitely worth it!
Eskimo_Magic
the only light mounts i know of are aren't vey nice looking. There is a surefire one designed for a specific torch and a picatinny rail adaptor. If you look on cobra airsoft there is a mention of a 'Mepro light mount' for the 1911 but it's out of stock. You could always try drilling the hi-capa light mount on the 1911? Also, for anyone who was even thinking of anodizing a guarder silver kit, don't bother, just got word back that it's not 100% aluminium, it's a alu-zinc alloy. =(
