Gas Gun Reccommended Gas Thread

Marlowe

Recommended Posts

Just as an idea folks, I thought it'd be worth having a thread where you can quickly see what gasses are compatible with the pistol / revolver you're planning on purchasing / already own.

What I propose is that anyone wanting to contribute basically states the model, version (if appropriate) etc of their replica, and whether it's NBB/GBB (for purposes of classification). What I (or any other Mod) will do is then update this initial post with your contributions. Hopefully we'll end up with a comprehensive list of replicas and their compatible gasses.

Some quick notes:

- Please try and avoid duplicating other people's entries unless you know that they can handle an additional gas.

- Please only discuss STOCK versions of the replicas - unless the modified version you have is a variant that comes pre-built from several retailers (eg a KSC / KWA MAC11 with a metal bolt).

- For the purpose of the thread until scientific evidence proves otherwise, we'll refer to propane as green. This way we'll keep things concise and avoid having newbies ruining their guns and then complaining because 'Arnies said it was okay'. ;)

KSC TMP and SPP V1 and Hard Kick versions: 134a only

Green will bend the rocket valve, blow the piston head and possibly (if you are unlucky) break the back of your upper receiver.

Marushin Detonics combat master 8mm NBB, green OK.

Marushin Taurus Raging Bull 8mm, Green OK.

(might unseat valve o-ring but it can be reset and no harm will have come to your pistol)

Maruzen M870 shell ejector, Green OK.

Maruzen M1100 shell ejector 134 only, green recoils too fast for shells to eject and eventually kills the piston head.

Marui Steyr GB NBB, Green OK.

Done up to here. Many thanks to all those who have contributed so far.

As a quick request can you please ensure that your entries follow the same format as those already on the list, and that you include the category you want to the replicas to be added to? This just saves me a lot of time having to format and locate appropriate categories - sadly I don't know every single gas replica out there... :)

Also, I've noticed a lot of you made entries for SMGS and even Shotguns. As a result would you prefer this list to be moved to general Tech Discussion, or should I leave it here?

GBB:

KJW M23: Green. Very, very sluggish on 134a, almost unusable.

KJW/STTi M93R: Green, 134a is sluggish but is still usable

NBB:

Y+P M9: 134a/green

Marushin mauser HSc: green/134a

SMG:

Maruzen micro-uzi: 134a, green rocks but may not last extended use

Maruzen Skorpion: 134a/green. Yes, I have yet to hear problems with one on green.

Done up to here. Thanks for all your input guys - hopefully this will save a lot of new 'wot am best gas' threads and help inform people buying a new / their first pistol. :)

A few quick notes:

- For the sake of conciseness, can you just list the recommended gases for your gun. I know that some gas guns will run on certain gas for a certain amount of time, but if you know they will break before long (such as a KSC/KWA M11 with a plastic bolt) can you just recommend the 'safe' gas to use?

- With the list starting to grow, we're starting to get people giving duplicate entries to those already mentioned. This isn't a major problem but if you could just quickly check to make sure your entries aren't added I'd appreciate it.

Thanks. :)

breaking down the WA's

WA - Beretta 92 (any model) - 134a

WA - Beretta Cougar - 134a (green with flow restrictor)

WA - Single Stack 1911 - 134a/green (I have never had a slide or internal part break through use of green gas, and the gas system can more than accomodate the extra power)

WA - Double Stack 1911 (SVI, Para) 134a/green (same applies)
