^Someone's attempt to up-date the HECU Marines for HL2, apparently

OK, here's my take on the Half-Life USMC HECU load-outs:

-Urban camouflage utilities

-Black fingerless biker gloves

-Black USGI combat boots

-Black body armor (anything short of a custom vest will be nothing more than an attempt to replicate the original)

Weaponry:

-M4 (NO RIS/RAS) with M203, MP5 with M203, SPAS-12, M249, M40A1

LBE (based on the enhanced model):

-ALICE load-bearing gear, including suspenders, belt, two magazine pouches (with not attached grenade pouches), canteen pouch with canteen, gas mask pouch

Headgear:

-Balaclava and goggles OR PASGT helmet with urban OR woodland camo cover OR PASGT helmet with Operation Desert Storm-era gas mask OR red beret with flash, &c.

The new HECU Marine is more difficult to do, simply because the model is untextured. However, most of the kit appears to be Crye in origin (Shirt, trousers, kneepads, elbow pads, Blastbelt, Battle Chassis). The gloves appear to be Naked Snake-style flight gloves. Not familiar with the boots. Obviously, there is also a beret. Using this model as a basis, we can postulate that these HECU Marines use SCAR-Ls with EGLMs or M4A1s with Knight's Armament RIS and M203s, M1014 shotguns, Mk46s or -48s, and M40A1s (possibly replaced/supplemented with Mk14s, M107s, SCAR-H LBs, or others). The camouflage pattern might be MultiCam or it might be the ficticious urban MARPAT.

That's all I got. Anyone else got any ideas/pointers/sharp-pointy organic weapons?

So you need a wrench, and a PCV that can magically store a huge amount of weaponry. Same difference.

On a more helpful note, you probably want to stick some body armour on under then ALICE, to replicate the added bulk of the PCV.

For the ALICE, just put together a set of pouches that you're happy with, rather than trying to replicate 100% what the game models have. As far as I know, all the M16 triple pouches have the grenade pouches on the side, by the way.

It's called a seam-ripper. I did it to mine quite a while ago and they look much better now, IMHO. Of course, it's convenient that this modification makes them fit in with the M16 pouches in HL.

Doh. Personally would've put the body armour next to the ALICE in a list like that, hence why I missed it.

Fair enough on the mag pouches.

Seems a pretty easy to put together load out. Could be easily adapted from a delta-style load out (Somalia era) with different combats.

Interesting, I thought captain's bars were all silver. Anyways, I apologize about the crowbar bit - forgot they used wrenches in OpFor. Anyways, I've got a set of subdued urban BDUs that I'll sell you dirt cheap if you're interested - size small/long pants, med/reg top.

youl need all the crye goodies for the last pic which is dam near impossible to get, let alone in a urban camo.

use digital urban for the BDU's, some sort of OD or Black PC (eagle PC W/CB would look good) some form of knee pads, a berret and all the rest of the pouches n what not.

but do use a 6004 holster

Try something like this for the armor:

I thought about it, this is the weapons list I came up with:

-MP5/203 or M4/203

-Glock 17 or M9

-M9 bayonet

From the top:

-PASGT with woodland cover

-Military SWD goggles

-Urban BDUs (Russian urban LES is closer than US woodland for the HDPack marines - not your OpFor pack allies!!!))

-Biker armor

-ALICE with H-harness, mag pouches sans grenade pouches, buttpack, two canteen pouches

-Jungle boots

NOt me, but one of my friends. I just realised that this is pretty much the HL HECU marine look - just needs an OD backpack and helmet.

<img snip>

Just to add in.

He also needs a collapsible stock, an A2 upper, and to get rid of the RIS and replace it with the standard CAR-15 handguards. ;)

And he's actually fine without a helmet, as a number of the HECU Marines had balaclavas with goggles (I don't recall if they had a headset, though).
