ghost_x3
Sounds good, eagerly awaiting the range/accuracy/fps tests! Great review. My friend actually has one, and once I get to try it, that'll let me decide if I want one or not.
evilliboba
I'm trying my darnedest not to get tempted elsewhere. I have to fight the urge for other gun until the 31st (aka payday).

Unfortunately I ordered em with the gun kit and they didn't make it into the carton. Naturally if they HAD been in the box, I wouldn't have torn the one I tore. Figures. Magsz
Wup, whats the ETA on the rubbers, any idea? Do the escort mp5's feature the same weak soldering/brazing on the valve units as the sp m16's? Edited July 24, 2007 by Magsz
Sale
Do the escort mp5's feature the same weak soldering/brazing on the valve units as the sp m16's? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's only related to the SP XM's, which have brass valve units. The SP M16A1 Carbines have die cast valve units, thus no soldering issues. -Sale
Wupjak
I had a Carbine with a brass valve (which promptly broke and had to be resoldered). Later serial number, 538 iirc and was new when I acquired it. Escort MP5 guts are laid out much differently than those of the SP16s. See the photos in the original post. No 'hood' that requires brazing. Paul told me last week he was going to be shipping them out soon. They'll likely go to Andrew here in the States then be distributed that way. Guess I'll wait. *grind teeth*

Wupjak
I'm not really grinding my teeth, I just want to play with my new toy. They'll get here when they get here...hopefully in short order.
Wupjak
Confirmed the Serial Number was 538 on my brass-valved (now sold) carbine. To tide me over til the MP5 rubbers get here, my SP16 rubbers arrived yesterday for my XM177 (after 10 months waiting for the first one, I paid for/ordered a second, then Andrew kindly threw in a third for my trouble). The XM177 is a different gun with an undamaged hop up rubber installed. Range is easily 150-180 feet. Full Auto is a dream. If only the rate of fire were consistent with that of the MP5. Can't have it all I guess. Lucky me I had my gunsmith friend mill/lathe a K2 6.03 tightbore for me out of an old M40XB barrel. Hehe.
Magsz
Have you modded your SP XM at all wupjack? My XM in stock configuration couldnt even fire on full auto without the bb's sputtering out of the muzzle after two full power shots.
Wupjak
Brazed valve, adjustable hop up, K2 custom 6.03 barrel, steel buffer screw.
Wupjak
Received the hop up rubbers yesterday. Installed one of the three, got off about 100 rounds of pure delight. Rounds formed a solid line of BBs with no stuttering. Then, the airshaft collar failed (again) and it chopped some BBs and ruined the hop rubber. I've reset the collar with green loctite per sniperx's instructions and let it cure. I'll update with chrono results and durability as soon as I have the opportunity to do some testing. Hopefully the airshaft collar won't move ever again. This is the third or fourth time it has slipped. Not common, but it is a concern.
AustinWolv
Wupjak, are you making sure to clean and degrease the airshaft groove and collar before applying the loctite and screws?
Wupjak
Yup. Every time. Paul recommended red loctite originally, then green yesterday after I described the problem to him. Green loctite is holding well so far.
Magsz
Wup, any chance you could post a picture of the part in question?
The Gopher
Does the back end of the reciever accept full stocks?
lifeischeese
Does the back end of the reciever accept full stocks? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It can take real steel full stocks. Dunno about AEG ones...
TDS
Dunno about AEG ones... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> no it doesnt, dimentions of the endcap are different
Wupjak
What TDS said. I got a (real steel) A2 stock online for 29 bucks and dremelled it to fit. Moderate amount (less than one cm, but it's a tight space and takes patience) of material removal to get the side rails to fit over the cavities in the receiver. Now I need a longer body pin to secure the stock properly to the receiver.
JohnK
Only just found this thread, and it appears to be the way forward for me - I can't stand AEG's! Anyway, question for the UK users - how much does this all cost, i.e. the kit (not the built version), getting it to the UK and the cost of the gas rig etc. I see the kit costs $390 shipped to the US, but how does it work out for the UK user? Cheers.
Titleist
Wanted to chime in and mention that Wupjak was kind enough to track me down an A-Spec gun, fix it, tune it, and get it to me in person. I love my gun, fantastic version of an MP5, I'd say it's hands down the BEST MP5 I've held short of the real deal. But I wanted to mention that if anyone is considering one of these guns to funnel questions through Denis, as he's really got the system down, and has the nack for addressing problems on the system. So big thanks to him, as this is my first step into the 'classic' market, and it was a great first step at that.
