I'm REALLY hoping that this was an initial "pre-batch pair" of 249s and not an indication of the sort of numbers that are going to be drip fed out to the shops?

 

Otherwise it's going to be like getting Glastonbury tickets or Wii's with everyone waiting for the site to have them come into stock before crashing it as everyone tries to buy them :)

Just re-read that again, eh? Particularly the line

The Minimi light machine gun was developed by the famous Belgian company FN Herstal, in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Mass production began in 1982 in Belgium, and at about the same time it has been adopted by the US Armed forces as the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW).

Yes but the Minimi A&K is offering is the original FN and not the one adopted by US. The M249 is different as you can see from the photographs.

 

Upper the original.

 

Latter the US adopted. As you can see differences include heat shield, stock, sights and flash hider.
