Icemaster109
Just a small poll to see where everyone in the airsoft community stands at. I have always heard mixed views on armor (not LBVs or tac vests) etc. Anyway, just wanted to see.
Belladonna
getting shot at close range hurts, im not in airsoft for the pain. i can feel a hit, but it takes the sting. and protects my more sensative torso.... R
stewpidbear
I have to wear armour for protection, dodgy side/nerve damage, and apart from protection it does add a certain something to the realism/look.
talon_0315
I'd just wear foam inserts for armor to better replicate the look with my Interceptor and CIRAS without having any weight disadvantages. The extra protection of Cordura is also nice. I know some of you out there would roll with Kevlar and SAPI plates, and that scares me a little.
Belladonna
sod that, i just mean the foam / material armour cover, more contoring till someone makes replica sapi plates the conform to my torso without squishing stuff.... R
CapaciousZepher
I wear body armor for several reasons. Top among those would be because it looks cool and works for the impression I'm going for. It also offers some protection, but that's not why I wear it. Cheers! - CapaciousZepher
TheMerchantOfVenice
I don't. Weighs too much. If I needed protection I would.
EmptyChambers
sod that, i just mean the foam / material armour cover, more contoring till someone makes replica sapi plates the conform to my torso without squishing stuff.... R <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I bet Underarmor must be real interesting for you then. On topic: I wear a plate carrier with the fake SAPI plates in them. Truthfully I don't notice it making much of a difference, except that my gear fits better over my skinny asian *albatross*.
SWAT_Doc
i dont really wear armor. i like the look of it, but here, its just so humid and hot, i prefer just a simple chest rig.
Magsz
I wear replica sapi plates because it stiffens up my plate carrier preventing it from sagging or flexing in the wrong places. I also wear a paca with no soft armor inserts because it gives a nice smooth surface for the plate carrier to sit against rather than rub against my bdu's and thusly my chest causing chafing due to folds in the bdu material. General Mazaki
I find armor to be a pointless expense and pointless to begin with. I can take a hit! Plus, I'm kinda heavy to begin with, so more ###### isn't gonna help.
GRIM!
I wear one under my chicom chestrig cus without it the chicom would look so empty...
rhino
sometimes i wear a kevlar vest, but it's more for holding my gut in than anything else...
Jaager
sometimes wear an IBA, but it can get really hot, i prefer just a vest and camelbak.
Gadge
Well seeing as brit CBA is supposed to be worn *under* your smock, i really see no point in wearing armour with my Brit inf loadout. Wearing it under your smck hads two advantages 1) you can access your pockets 2) in the real world it means you dont get your pocket ocntents punched thruogh you when you're hit by a round that is stopped by the armour. You'll occasioanlly see CBA worn as an outer layer but its not supposed to be (mainly in hot places)
GuzziHero
I dont. Because I'm not a sissy Id play in just shorts and boots if I didnt know for a fact that seeing my ugly twisted body would cause unprovoked projectile vomiting among my fellow players. Hmm...psychological warfare. Might try that
Belladonna
boob shots = fail nuf said.... R
Kyrian_Zenda
Kinky stuff I wear it as it's a part of my loadout. I'm also looking to get some replica armour as a part of another loadout. So it's kind of a mix between it being a part of my loadout and just because it looks cool
Gadge
I've played in combat trousers and vest countless times, personally i dont think i've ever had a BB hit that bothered me that much in seven years of playing, a few from hot guns to the head close up have stung a bit and i had one open up my bottom lip once but you know its not worse than when i played for paintball team and was covered in big brusies weekley after a game/tourny. Body armour cos it looks cool is fine, i dont think you really have to justufy it anymore than that, if it was baout protection than a thick fleece will do the same job, wweigh less and be more flexible. Cool for cools sake is fine by me... I'm probably the most narcisitic bloke who loves getting dressed up i know I've worn my CBA for the sake of it with dessies before an my m69 US flak jacket with my nam loadout for the same reason and equally a lot of the old LFO (myself included) used to wear the bundeshwer armour vest as part of the team kit. Gadge
Quite few of us wearing it in there & purely for posing too...
Edmiles
Well I just wear a replica helmet (I say replica as it's not actually kevlar) But you certainly don't need kevlar to protect yourself from bb's Back to the point, its for a milsim look, the fact that it protects my head is just a bonus. Counting Count
I wear Armour in CQB / FIBUA / MOUT [insert general aplhabeti soup name here] simply as I'm used to the restriction of it not for any of the above reasons exactly (unless I'm doing a specific loadout that is...). Grim
I wear armour because its part of my specific impression, Black Hawk Down Delta Force. and two Interceptors for US infantry and USMC impressions. But i got a member in the team with the same BHD delta armour as me but uses it in a protection role. Grim
ardrummer292
Well, no PMC in their right mind would leave the Green Zone without soft armor, so I guess it's part of my impression... Oh yah, and it looks ###### sweeeeet.
[T.A.G]-M.S.FOLSBERG
No armor for me... Armor is for those who cant take the pain...
