Sinner101GR
anywho, another batch I just did, dad wanted to compare our two knives we each received from Mr. Warren Osborne, added my bucket in for aesthetic reasons I suppose. The beat to hell one is mine, the cleaner one is his, he just got it a few months ago. last one is a bit off center...but it came out nice.
AliceHKfan
Hey guys what do you think are good knife sharpeners and what do you think makes a blade sharp or not? (or what are good measures of sharpness?)
dannyboy
Slide sharp is wank, which is a shame, cause it's not a bad idea... just easy to break >_> Accusharp is meant to be pretty good, though I just use a whetstone. Test sharpness with paper, like my blades keen enough to slice a strip off without much effort.
BigAl
The Spyderco Tri Sharp ( thing thats it's name ) is mean't to be good. I use the Lansky Sharpening System, takes a while but good results.
AliceHKfan
yeah I have one of those Spyroderco Tri things + ordinary whetstone and most of my knives can cut through old denim with minimal effort, but still seems a bit lacking to me for some reason
r.ocelot
Lansky's good for reprofiling the blade, and the Spyderco's good for touch-ups. If your knife is one of those wonder-steels (D2, S30V, S90v, INFI, etc), then you should invest in some diamond stones for what ever sharpening system you have. I have an edge pro, but it's a bit of a pain to sharpen recurves.

mattmanic
I have a question it's a bit noobish but I have no experience when it comes to knives. Are lock knives illegal in the UK?
Nitemare1
I have a question it's a bit noobish but I have no experience when it comes to knives. Are lock knives illegal in the UK? No, lock knives are legal to own but not to carry in public.. Automatic knives are illegal tho.. ie one that deploys via pressing a button or similar

Spencedaddy
r.ocelot..is that an original Emerson? or a clone?
Renagade
Not the best knife in the world, but it gets the job done. It's a Field & Stream, from their "Delta Five Combat Series" Made of 440 Stainless steel More pictures upon request. Edited April 4, 2008 by Renagade
deepsix
@ r.ocelot, nice Emerson! I've enjoyed my CQC7 for about 5 or 6 years now, love the wave feature to death, as my torn and worn jeans pocket can attest to! I seriously think it's faster than an automatic. r.ocelot
r.ocelot..is that an original Emerson? or a clone? Original, back when their liners (both sides) were still made from Ti. Grooved the G-10 myself with a dremel. Deepsix, I think so too, with my MTs, I gotta take it out of my pocket, and push a button (and disengage the safety, if I'm carrying my Exodus). The wave lets me open the knife while taking it out of the pocket

scorch
Here's one of my many little toys. I really want a kabar. The one with the serration at the bottom, they're pure sex in knife form.

101matt1
I see your Lone Survivor, and raise you a One Bullet Away. My trusty Gerber FAST. I swear by that knife... My new Kershaw. I absolutely hate it. Every Kershaw knife I've bought, has all these great features, then one thing kills it all. My last one, the blade wouldn't just 'pop out' with assisted opening. This one, takes hydraulic pliers to pull from being clipped to a pants' pocket. I'll be returning this one some time soon. I also found Kershaw knives are very sharp... A bunch of Advil and three stitches. Wooh, fun. I was cutting a piece of plastic from a new fishing pole, and held my left hand, stupidly, in front of the knife. The plastic broke, and the knife went about an inch into my finger. Smart me!
scorch
My M-Tech and one of my books! Probably not the best book to be picturing with a razor sharp knife though!
