Nitemare1
Have a look for ColdSteel, i think they've got some nice skeletonised knives Edit.. Link http://www.coldsteel.com/fighters.html Edited September 11, 2007 by Nitemare1
r.ocelot
You don't want a cold steel knife. They're probably the maker of the worst knives there are, not even comparable to an Opinel. Going on a camping trip with one is NOT an option: So much for a hardcore knive that's supposed to be used by operators around the world :-/
hitmanNo2
What is the world coming to, if your knife can't even cut a tree in half eh?
r.ocelot
We didn't need it to cut the tree in half, just not snap when it's barely in the tree.
hitmanNo2
Just kidding dude. How did you get it in there so far? Was there already a crack? Perhaps that sort of thing is best left to hatchets.
j3T
I'd say it was a pretty good knife, if you got it in the three that far. All knives can break if you try hard enough, you know. Even striders. I own a Cold Steel Recon and it's by far the sharpest knife that I have.
r.ocelot
Only time I've seen a strider break was in a youtube video, and that was off camera. My opinel handled better that that POS recon. Besides, most of their knives are blatant ripoffs of other knives by strider, emerson, etc. Just kidding dude. How did you get it in there so far? Was there already a crack? Perhaps that sort of thing is best left to hatchets. I know We were stomping on it, got it in there, and it broke when we we were trying to get it out (or was it before, not quite sure). EDIT: Does anyone have a link to a Spyderco Sharpmaker instruction manual/sheet? I lost mine as well as the dvd, and I need help with a zero grounded knife. Sasquatch
Whaddya call these sort of knives with a one piece, unadorned handle? I want one. http://www.g-forces.org/images/watches/Mem...nife2_tmaxx.jpg <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah those are just called skeletonized handles. Those particular knives are the Goblin (top), and Baby Son of Pry-thing (bottom). They are from Atwood Knives. He makes some really neat stuff. -Jake

Sasquatch
Yeah, that would be the Spanner Baby. Pretty neat little units. -Jake
BP-anon
I've been on a research kick for the past few days (edc forums is the bomb!). I'm waiting for the cheapie to come out... I prefer the look to any of the others. A bit of grinding, a bit of kydex, and BAM! kickass knife for under $30. http://www.countycomm.com/eodrtool.htm
Moriquende
Guys, I need some help. I can't decide whether I should get this HK with a plain or comboedge blade: http://www.benchmade.com/products/product_...spx?model=14460 Which looks best?
ferretkiller
Are you going to use it or is it going to be a collector piece? If you are going to use it, what do you usually use it for, cutting rope, boxes ect. Do you have the means to sharpen the serrations when they dull? My vote is for the combo blade. Definatly the most functional if you are a chronic knife user. Being a heavy knife user and not having the means to sharpen the serrations could be a pain, but not the end of the world. Moriquende
I already have an HK Ally and 610SBK Rukus which I use as utility knives. So it will probably just be a collectors piece, which is why looks are important
ferretkiller
Theni would go with the combo edge. Really that style wins my vote most of the time.

Althis
@chibbi that last knife looks insanely wicked
Chibbi
@chibbi that last knife looks insanely wicked They're also insanely cheap to buy. (yet descent quality !) The brand Byrd is something like the cheaper version of Spyderco. (Spyderco's name is also on the box, so it's endorsed by)
smilingknafe
so here are mine: something to do some fine work: something for everyday use: something to do some abrasive work: the khukri isn't bought yet, but it's the next on my list
