Stealthbomber
If a mod is asked to close a sales thread you have 2 options:- You can either close the thread without posting, in which case the seller might continue to get PMs from potential buyers or you can post to say the item is sold, thus bumping an obsolete thread to the top of the list. Anyway... I'm also a member of IMOC.CO.UK (an MR2 owners club) and I see that, when mod's close sales threads they have 2 options:- 1) Close thread 2) Close thread (Sale Complete) If a mod picks option 2 it closes the thread and also edits the title and prefixes it with "[COMPLETE]". This means everybody can tell what sales are complete AND, cos the search function allows you to filter things, you can do a search which ignores any threads with "[COMPLETE]" in the title. No idea how easy this'd be and it's not really a big deal but I thought it was pretty slick so, if it's easy to do, I figured it might be worth a go.
Wraith18A
Couldn't they also just straight up delete the listing, thereby saving server space and confusion?
Stealthbomber
Couldn't they also just straight up delete the listing, thereby saving server space and confusion? That's not smart. You never know when something's going to come up where the thread will be needed for reference. Deleting threads should never be done lightly.
Chris North
I thought the off-topic mods had the power to edit posts, and therefore thread titles? Of course if you guys do, it would still probably be a bit of an inconvenience to have to edit each and every title of a closed sale thread.
