They just look so large because of the tight crop, the two Camel spiders, the long focal length (I'm sure you've seen photos of planes over Heathrow etc apparently passing within cm of each other when actually they're a couple of thousand feet apart), and their close proximity to the camera. You can just about make out the pliers used to pick them up, and also the gap between the cuff and wrist of the person holding them. Either that gap is exaggerated by the camera, or he's wearing a shirt 4 sizes too big!

darkchild130
meh, camel spiders die like normal spiders when you stab them with a trip flare picket. They also raise their arms up and scream as they run away from you. Darkchild
Echo 2
yeah, they just eat a bit of you, and lay their eggs in you, and leave.. nasty *shudders* Funny how the largest, meanest looking things aren't poisonous, while the tini, insignificant things are incredibly poisonous, like the Daddy Long legs spider. Its fangs are too small to bite a human.

Aparently that's another myth, just like Camel spider's being able to scream (they do run with their front legs in the air, it helps them not smash into things)

Its fangs are too small to bite a human. A myth for sure, Mythbusters disproved it. They found that the fangs can penetrate human skin, they do know how to bite, but their venom is definitly not poisnous. The Adam guy eventually stuck his hand in a tub of them and after a while he got bitten and the slight burning sensation lasted a couple of seconds.

crackisbad
alright people, enough with the spiders. and to seperate fact from fiction: Camel spiders are only six inches long and in that picture there are two of them attached together and the marine is holding the spiders out close to the camera. more info can be found here: clicky! less talk, more pictures. :spiderman:
