evilliboba
http://youtube.com/watch?v=mPL8cMAsrTs A drop-in GBB mechbox for AEGs? Can it be true?! Looks very interesting to say the least.
Magsz
Oh...my...god. How much and where can i get ten?
supportgunner
If they made a drop-in PGC GB for a 249 I would bear Escort's children. However, that will never happen, but I do like the idea of a cheap GBB...any kind of rifle...a lot.
evilliboba
Oh...my...god. How much and where can i get ten? My thoughts exactly. Well... maybe not ten. I cannot wait to see this in action. I for see a affordable GBB rifle in my future with more options than: MP5, XM177 or M16A1 Carbine.
none
its escort. meaning its gonna be overpriced and perform poorly. and youll have to endure sniperx to get one.
wolfstein5
its escort. meaning its gonna be overpriced and perform poorly. and youll have to endure sniperx to get one. Speaking of which, where is TDS? Oh, he's here.
evilliboba
The price is not been announced yet. No one has got their hands on this to test this yet. And SniperX can be a total asshat. Lets not jump to conclusions until the kit is in hand and tested. 1/3 so far.
sekiryu
After as many times as I've seen our local Escort MP5 lose its hose, no thanks.
Revenge Seeker
Hmmm..interesting... wasn't there some kind of gas gearbox like about a year ago? I think it was madbull or something... can't remember...
evilliboba
Hmmm..interesting... wasn't there some kind of gas gearbox like about a year ago? I think it was madbull or something... can't remember... MonsterAirsoft in Japan made a gas/electric hybrid for a while. It used standard internals with a special piston and cylinder assembly. Magsz
The madbull 470 which was a piece of ######. Escort guns are ###### in stock form because they rely heavily on aging designs. Imagine dropping one of these things into a custom tuned m4a1 body or anything else with a modern hopup design. IF these gearboxes are durable i will seriously consider adapting all of my AEG's with a version two gearbox in them to use these things. I love the idea behind the escort system, unfortunately the concept falls far short of the reality. These gearboxes MAY change that.
evilliboba
Here, here Magsz! That's the spirit. Now imagine a GBB M14 with the Marui hop-up design... Or P90... /drool
Azulsky
Here, here Magsz! That's the spirit. Now imagine a GBB M14 with the Marui hop-up design... Or P90... /drool Imagine anything with blowback... Although with all the talk of what cold does to the v2 gearbox and what that brass is pounding i have to question, but i have faith
evilliboba
Remember most gearboxes are cast monkey metal. Let us hope Escort used better material like CNCed steel or aluminum.
Azulsky
Yeah but note to all who are doing the pants dance because of this You still have a $150ish investment on top of this to get a working air rig if you dont have it already, haha lucky me. But god i just hope it works in g3's, i will never use a aeg mechbox again if it does.
evilliboba
True about the rigs. To get an effective, all year rig it will cost at least $200 really. You need the Palmers rig ($150) and a HPA/Nitrogen Tank ($50+). But once you do that you can use it on any classic, Escort, or this new GBB mechbox with out worrying about battery size, connectors, voltage, etc.
Azulsky
So true, you could argue about the HPA but thats for another time Otherwise its a matter of pulling the trigger. Just need to get mah grubby hands on one. I have to imagine this has been a long time in coming
Jin15
If Escort made a V3 (AK) version of it I'd be all over it! I could live with an external air rig in my backpack for a gas blowback AK methinks. Escort has already released a GBB external air/CO2 powered AKS-74M but there's no way I'd ever pick one up because, well, they're $2,000! But if Escort can make drop in conversion external air powered GBB mechboxes for a reasonable price ($300 or less) than I'd definately give it a go I think.
evilliboba
I believe this will be at least $300 if not more. Still, fingers crossed!
TDS
Speaking of which, where is TDS? Oh, he's here. *hand raise* So, I guess the old excuse that the escort system will destroy aeg bodies was a lie to get people to buy thier exclusive guns, or they are simply in so much financial trouble that they dont care anymore, which also seems likely due to a conversation ive had with him earlier today. [19:49] lsniperxl: you're quite the clever guy [19:50] lsniperxl: and you're right...it easy easy to turn a profit with no overhead [19:51] lsniperxl: but when you have to pay staff (all 4 of us), electric bills, social security, sales tax, income tax, building rental, yearly sewage fees, yearly garbage fees, company insurance, mandatory health insurance [19:51] lsniperxl: yeah it adds up [19:51] lsniperxl: do you know what it cost YE to produce ONE mp5 body? 130usd. How was that? *swish?* -Hugs N Kisses Tds
Azulsky
Dont worry the hose is not remotely close to the hassle its made out to be. The hose on your camelback and some peoples comm setups are way more interfering than the hose.
sekiryu
And yet I've seen a hose fly away from an MP5 with an angry hiss more than just a few times.
Magsz
Lets not beat around the bush. The hose is a major turnoff for many people that dont like the rifle to actually be "hardwired" to their body but honestly guys, for all of the things that you gain with the escort system, the hose, while being its biggest detractor is EASILY something you can live with. If properly secured the lines generally will not detach themselves from the regulator or the gun. Again, if these mechboxes are durable and well made i WILL be picking up quite a few of them. I cannot stand escort guns as is right now because they're limited by the classic design. Being able to drop one of these into an hk416, or a Scar without having to plunk down 1200 dollars is a godsend. I havent been this excited about anything in airsoft in quite a long time. The one thing that im skeptical about is the fact that the gearbox shell looks to be made out of the same monkey metal as any standard version two gearbox. Thats unfortunate. Id happily pay 500 dollars for a version 2 escort system thats in a cnc'd shell. Hell, 500 smackaroos is twice the cost of any existing gearbox. One more thing, im going to have to agree with TDS on one thing. The age old line about conventional AEG's not being strong enough to withstand the forces of the escort system is a line of BS. I mean hell, if that were the case how could escort be adapting their drive engine to the VFC 416 or the VFC line of ak's?
Guinness
Wow.... This is almost like reading an IM chat transcript- a flurry of activity all in the space of an hour! Tells you this is either a well anticipated product or....another chance to bash
FarEast
Lets wait for them before we start bashing! Although the overpriced comment in a way is fair. But I think I will wait for the Magma M4 gear box and also another company is making a AEG blow back kit for the M4/M16
