The Saint
Hey folks, I was wondering if someone who owns a KJW P229 can tell me whether the outer barrel (non-protruding-for-red-tip-purposes version) can hide an inner barrel longer than 83mm? If so, much much longer than 83mm? Thanks.
Romulus
Unfortunately I only have a protruding barrel at the moment (which can hide a 94.5 Hi-Capa 4.3 barrel when its not locked back). The good news is that I am planning to cut a custom outer barrel tomorrow so I should be able to give you a length then.
Romulus
Update: Today I chopped down a spare Action barrel I had to P229 length. With the 83mm barrel installed and the slide locked back the barrel reaches to the end. At the very best you could only add on 2-3mm before the barrel would begin to protrude. I find this a bit disappointing but technically it's a good thing that KJW built the gun to get the most barrel possible. Hope that this helps. I will probably have a few pictures of this up in the next few days when I finish my polishing.
The Saint
Thanks Romulus, it does help. If I had the money, I'd buy a KJW P226 and P229. Then I'd swap the slides, keep the P229 frame with the P226 slide and sell the P226 frame with the P229 slide.
Romulus
Good. There's certainly something to be said for being able to built a SIG with a long slide but a smaller grip. I was really happy with my P229 when it had a TM P226 slide on it.
