I have lots of M83 rigs, but will soon put some up for sale including uniforms, chest rigs and vests. I'm going to mod a vest so that the back of the vest is actually the rucksack. This will involve removing the straps from the ruck, removing the back from the vest and fixing the straps fomr the vest to the top of the ruck like ruck straps and fitting the side adjusters to the base of the ruck. I'm doing this as I use this kit regularily 'out and about' and for my uses this will work perfectly..

The para rig is Uber rare and I paid a small fortune for it.. I'm going to import a lot of M83 chest rigs, vests and uniforms in Nutria Brown soon, and I'll let you know when.

I have a few modified green chest rigs available already which are worn apron style- loop over the head and a belt around the waist. This was worn usually with a ruck etc as the straps would not interfere with each other then. I also have a few pairs of the seperate green 'side' pouches currently available too.

On the subject of Rhodie chest rigs and vests, here are some pictures I found on the 1/6th Soldier forum:

Excellent picture (from SOF I believe) that shows RLI troopies wearing the "Fireforce" vest:

Back on the subject of Rhodesian load-outs. I think I may have stumbled across a source for replica Rhodesian camo. I'll know in a week or two and I'll let you all know.

Any news?

I've been looking for a "FAT (doesn't know his parents)" size for a while :)

Genuine Rhodesian shirt:

Showing name of soldier who it was issued- Sweeney and the other I assume is his number which is also printed inside the shirt sleeve above the cuff:

New Transkei shirt with used genuine 32Bat beret for cammo contrast. Similar indeed..

Shoulder straps for my Para Fox beltrig:

You can clearly see the quick release buckles on the belt are replicated on the shoulders too. This I have been told is for a matching rucksack that uses this beltrig and shoulder harness as the belt/shoulder straps of the ruck, connecting via the QR. The fastex clips below fit the matching chest rig so that you do not need to use the seperate shoulder starp of the chest rig. Very neat integrated design- typical of SADF kit of the 80's/90's.

True. They had their own kit factories. A lot of injured troopies worked in these kit design shops so I've been told by an ex Recce.

The shoulder harness came attached to a knackered green chest rig in amongst a box of good green chest rigs I got the other week but I recognised straight away what it really belongs to . The beltrig I've had for ages- see my earlier pics. I use them for carrying my 'woods/bushcraft' kit. I spent Saturday night (while watching the delightful Keira Knightely in The Hole) adapting one of my M83 vests to work as a fishing rig. I removed the divider in the rear pouch and all the dividers in the mag pouches and the grenade pouch. Now my fly and lure boxes fit in neatly and the landing net/spare rods fit neatly in the rear pouch. Still didn;t catch nowt, but at least I looked cool... ;)

Here's a playlist I put together of all seven parts of The Last Domino:

And here's another interesting video. It's the trailer for the Christopher Lee film Whispering Death (also known as Albino or Knight of the Askari). Lee plays a BSAP policeman on the trail of an albino terrorist. The film is significant as it was filmed in Rhodesia during the Bush War with the help of the Rhodesian government.
