PureSilver
BBB, where would be the best place to source a set of those old-school grips?
BaBaBooey
BBB, where would be the best place to source a set of those old-school grips? Sorry, I’m not too sure. I look for parts for classic P-series whenever the local show comes to town. On a side note, I believe they stopped making them around 1997, so if the panels indicate something after 1997, or are completely missing, something might not be right. There are panels that don’t have the codes, but I’ve only seem them used on P229’s.
Squad 701
A used pair of the old-style grips sold in Hong Kong today for £46, I'll be looking for a bit more when I eventually decide to sell my unused pair from 1991

darkchild130
I figured this was the best place to ask as I'm getting back into airsofting... What do you guys think is the best available 552 out there? I've always wanted one, but years ago there was only the TM with it's creaky body so it always put me off. Cheers in advance. Horsem4n
G&G. its the most solid and rounded version IMHO. ICS is a close 2nd with their easy takedown button (while the G&G takes a bit of effort to slide it apart) but the bolt handle breaks from overuse and its not as well colored as the G&G. of course, there is price to account for. while the ICS is not much worse, it is almost half the price. whichever you choose, you won't be disappointed. but thats all from a 3rd persons perspective. i have handled the G&G and ICS sigs, but i have never owned them. darkchild130
Fair enough. What about mags? I've heard MAG mid caps are the only option outside of short mags or hi caps (I really want the "30 rounder" look) Also, does anyone know if RIS kits will fit the G&G version, as the products I find are generally labelled "will fit TM or JG" Darkchild Edited June 18, 2014 by darkchild130
DeltaZero
I've got a JG Sig 551 Electric Blow back.. to be honest it is rock solid and built like a brick. It's not 100% accurate I will accept but its a solid performer and looks the part. Has a RIS OOTB too.
Bando
i have 2 G&G 552s and they are really really solid bits of kit.
darkchild130
Excellent, today I bought a G&G 552, six MAG mid caps (to start) now I'm just waiting on a reply from eliteairsoftbatteries.com to see if I can get a 7.4v lipo with a large connector to fit it. I'm all excited, I forgot what it feels like to purchase some new gear! Darkchild

FireKnife
Take the rails off to make it more comfortable and use the irons . Most attachments in airsoft are unnecessary anyway. 'FireKnife'
Bando
TBH if fireknife had his way he would have you chop and change it so much that it would be a 1911 by the end My opinion though throw a AFG or VFG on it and if you like them some sort of optic and then get her some balls to fling
FireKnife
Haha, nah I like guns being stripped back to classic looks. Hell even an M4 looks nice when it is just bare bones and compact without all the fancy rails 'FireKnife'
hitmanNo2
30 rd mag, torch, Aimpoint, done.
darkchild130
This is it, I took the rail off and added a vfg. I've always been a massive lover of iron sights. The gun is perfection anyway, all I may add is a flashlight for CQB. Darkchild EDIT: does anybody know where I could source a 553 style flip up front sight, as I prefer this to the 552 style aperture sight. Any help is appreciated, I'm getting nowhere with this. PureSilver
Assuming the mounting base is the same between the 552 and 553 - which it may well not be - I'd think about getting it from G&G. Pro Airsoft Supplies may well be able to order you the part.
darkchild130
I may have one in the pipeline, if that doesn't work out I'll check out pro airsoft supplies. Thanks. Darkchild
