SIG Sauer P226 West German (Herndon-1989) (Marui/PAC Custom)

Here we go with a little family foto I took a few months ago All kinds of SIGs: Left to right, top to bottom: Western Arms GSR VFC P320-M17 KSC P2022 Inokats

Oh right, SIG picture thread, so this can go here : GHK SIG 553 GBB:

The tritium sights look superb, reminds me of my Northern Ireland days!

Sorry to keep spamming this thread with questions (I would post a picture but my 552 looks the same as it did last time I photographed it)

I'm happy with the appearance for now, but are there any internal upgrades people would recommend for the G&G 552? I plan to slap a tight bore in there but to be honest it fires pretty damn accurate with the stock barrel. If anybody knows of any glaring weaknesses with them that I should know of, it would be appreciated.

By the sounds of it, that is oone of those 'out of the box' shooters.

Any upgrades you would do internally would not really give much more than a little extra here and there and would really be a case of 'is £50 worth the extra 1m of range' kind of thing.

They have vastly improved from the guns they had out 7-8 years ago when I started. Back then they made market stall springers look viable.

I am sure someone might say 'oh you could do this to the gearbox so the trigger delay is down by 0.3 of a second' of something but personally unless I am spending say £50 to double may range or half my groupings I don't really like to get into that whole money arms race. Plus if it is working as you like it and matches you why change it? Means you have less excuse to hang at the back and more chances to be up front in the action with your gun chugging along like a good 'un :P.

Now if only I had a SIG 55X series in my hands, I am torn between that, a MP5 and a G&G AK short thingy (74U or GKMS Carbine)

The major weakness for me was the selector feel - very gritty, because of the gearing for the working ambidextrous selector - but there's not much you can do about it. Unless the SIG is one of the guns G&G fit MOSFETs to as stock (I don't think it is) I would be thinking about a low-complexity non-braking 'FET as the major upgrade; it will help preserve the gun's trigger contacts and increase it's electrical efficiency. Any old AirFet will do, provided there's room for it in the gun.

I know what you mean about the selector, it sort of grinds into place rather than click, but it can accept that when the rest of the gun is so nice. I was thinking of a MOSFET, is it something I could fit myself (my abilities stop at opening gearboxes, I can switch out barrels, motors etc but that's it) or does it need specialist tools/expertise?

Introducing Operation: Polishing a Turd

I got a WE F228 the other day for free after fixing a few pistols for a local airsoft shop. I am not a huge fan of WE pistols but I do love the P228. So I replaced the internals with an old Marui P226 I had laying around. I threw the fake short reset trigger in the trash and replaced it with a Guarder old style trigger, installed some factory SIG grips, and a real steel flat takedown lever. I just finished smoothing the finish out and it is being sent to the the engravers in a few days.

Sorry for the lighting and focus, I'll get some better pics up later.

I'm far from an expert, but as far as I know any real MOSFET requires access to the inside of the gearbox. You won't need to fiddle around inside (provided the gun was shimmed properly from the factory) but you will need to open it. If you aren't comfortable doing that, pretty much any tech will be; while they're in there you might want them to check the shimming, correct the angle of engagement and possibly fit a sorbothane pad - the former two are free and the latter £5 or so - which much like the MOSFET will help with the performance slightly but mostly will increase the gun's efficiency and protect its long-term health.

If you're based in or around London, a user on here - Aod - is a highly-qualified technician with more experience on the G&G guns than anyone bar G&G themselves, and he works to significantly higher standards.

The one pictured is a KSC P230 with a very rare Zeke P230 slide and frame with correct trades. When I bought it from another forum it was missing the screw at the rear which seals the blowback unit and makes the slide blow back correctly rather than shooting the gas backwards at the users face. The seller sourced that other P230 for me as we couldn't find a replacement screw and seal. The pistol was apparently sold as spares and repairs but it worked fine before I removed the screw to be put into the KSC/Zeke, either way I've got 2 mags for the KSC Zeke. It's a beautiful pistol, doesn't get the use it deserves though so is unfortunately up for sale on another forum at the moment.
