jonboy2312
Is that the G&P wood? For some reason it doesnt look right... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think I wrote a couple of pages back what exactly is wrong with GP and KA wood kits... The shape of the stock and the pistol grip is off, and the very kind of wood is nothing like any wood ever used on military AKs from any manufacturer - it's just too fancy... But all that aside, it DOES make a SPECTACULAR furniture for what could be a collectible/commemorative AK like the goldy made for Saddam, or a beautifully finished AK for the civilian market. That's definitely the kind of "feel" I get from those wood kits - not bad, actually
SACSlym
I wasn't really going for what was correct, mostly in that my body and front end were not even close to what a real one looked like, so I went with what was both affordable, and would probably fit me better, for which it does. The larger hand grip is good for my hands, the rear stock gives me more stability. The other bit is that as usual, the pictures dont come close to what it actually looks like, the only one that begins to show it is the last one. It will be interesting how it will look in a year or two, with age and battle damage. Edited August 1, 2006 by SACSlym
Jagdraben
No frills, brand-spanking new G&G RK-103, complete with coat of epoxy (bloody reciever tang ): I have all the kit I need (except for that set of Sinotarn that should be somewhere between here and China, and possibly a Russian-style beret), and now all I need are four (more) AK mags. Maybe more, depending. I might wind up having to buy one of those STAR AK mag boxes. Although it would be nice if MAG did a box of mid-caps....

Ye old Canadian
AK47-s on the way to becoming an AKMS. Still trying to work up the courage to make the correct rivets and indents in the metal body. \
SilentScope
VFC Aks74UN #484 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Did you use steel wool and oil or fine grit wet/dry sandpaper to weather your Krink Ash? I think I'll do that same when I get mine. Edited August 2, 2006 by SilentScope
Ye old Canadian
One more picture that I forgot. One question though, anyone know where I can get one of those brown guarder pistol grips? I really want to replace the crappy G&P grip with one of those. Steel wool, you re right ! It was a looong work, but I was quite satisfied with the result.
SilentScope
Yeah I've used 000 steel wool to do that before. Takes a while but most of the other ways dont look very realistic. When you add oil to the process it takes even longer, but adds a bit more subtlety to the wear. Yours looks great, I got to say.
ash^
Thank you. I added nothing in the process... I will try with oil next time !
Tommygunn
Here's a good pic that demonstrates the type of wear AK's are prone to:

UMGuy
My friend lost the screws that connect the stock to the gun, the ones on the underside. Does anyone know what size they are so he can buy replacement ones? Any help is greatly aprecciated.

thegunrunner
Nice work, is that a unit marking on your grenade launcher? You need to make a guide for installing the folding mechanism. I'm interested.
PlasticMag
Where is the marking you're referring to? And I'd make a guide, but it's SO FRIGGIN HARD to do, that it's almost not worth it.
thegunrunner
I was just messing with you, with the orange strip on the front of the launcher. Even still, it's a great custom gun. I wish I had more time to mess with these things so I wouldn't have to spend so much on Guarder stuff. Edited August 3, 2006 by thegunrunner
