Jonboy, nice! Let us know if you get the receiver cover on. The RS part is quite a bit shorter than the Marui one.

Thanks! ^^

I know the receiver cover is shorter... by about half a centimeter. I'll probably need to chop that much from the front of the airsoft receiver cover and weld the pieces together. The airsoft receiver cover reacts nicely to the blueing chemistry, which means it's "steel" enough to be weldable. If not - glue and filler will come into play :)

I've already made an attempt to make the receiver appear stamped - though the result is bad... I'll have to apply filler again and sand it more carefully and more evenly. Not now, though, as there's a skirmish tomorrow.

As soon as the parts arrive, I'll fix my filling job and add some fake rivets... That should look nice until I get a proper stamped receiver (I'm hoping CA will eventually release their SLR-105 receiver as a commonly available repair/upgrade part, just like their M15 receivers...)

There's still a lot of work to be done on my AK, my wife's C7A1 is finally ready, though :)

It is illegal to modify a deactivated weapon in the UK. If you need clarification contact the Birmingham Proof House as your local cop shop is unlikely to know as it is too specialised.

QFT dont go messing with deacts if you're in the UK

it receives its deactivated status on the basis of a checklist of features and is proofed to ackonwledge that Remove alter those features from it and its no longer a deact

think about it - if it could be deactivated to current requirements without them no one would waste the time and effort carrying them out in the first place They'd just cross drill the barrel, ruin the bore remove the innards and call it a day at that.
