I was wondering if there was anyone out there that would be interested in taking on a project for me

I want one of the "ammo vests" that was used in the movie HEAT. I really dont want an exact replica I want a look alike with some added features.

here is the best picture I can find of the basic vest. Unfortunately its for 12 inch action figures so i just cant buy one ready made.

*snip*

the only actual requirements for the vest I have are to hold mags in that fashion securely, have a pocket on the back for a hydro bladder, some sort on small inside breast pockets on either side for dead rags, and being semi light weight and sturdy(I wear through gear far too easily)

If this is a project you are interested in( and i hope it is) I know it will not be cheap, and i am fine with that.

The event I really want this vest for is not till august but obviously the sooner i get it the sooner i can be happy like a small child on Christmas.

I'll see what I can do. That would be a bit difficult to make because of the mesh and the vest shape. I'll get back to you.

What kind of shirt is that? It doesn't look like underarmor. Normal T?

Its a USGI ACU moisture wicking T-Shirt in sand color. I got it off of ebay.

Man, I wonder if the dry cleaners near me can do this kind of stuff...

Go ask them dude - I wondered the same thing for weeks until I went in and had a chat with the couple that ran the place.

That's actually a less secure way of mounting the kneepads, IMO - mine have a separate pocket sewn onto the front of the knee reinforcement, to wear better so you don't wear a hole in your pants. I'm working on getting good pictures up, as my pants are finally done (minus some D-rings and shock cord).

  • 4 weeks later...

I just finished my loadout with 2x full auto Glocks, and a tri shot shottie.

I wanted to be able to reload the pistols one handed. After considering some convoluted mechanical solutions, I decided to go with a much simpler method. Using nylon webbing, elastic and velco.

Same setup on my left leg. The velcro breaks off the opposite way though.

The magazines are held in very secure. Once the pistol catches on the magazine they pull out easy.

how'd u get the crye kneepads in there so sweet? daamn i'd love the look of that in a dpm trouser :P

I'm tempted to 'mod' some ACU cut pants like that--only ghetto style. Cut a hole with scissors, jam UR Tactical kneepad in, glue to ACU knee insert for stability. Five minutes, max.

Now all you need are those weeble-wobble magazines from Equilibrium.

This:

A silly but kinda cool scene from Equilibrium (2002); in which the main character slides two loaded magazines toward a group of enemies where they stand upright on their weighted bases.

When our hero runs out of ammo, he simply ejects his empty mags and slams his pistols down on the fresh ones for the ultimate tactical reload. Luckily they were not only upright but facing the right way.

He then commences with the killin'.

You can buy your own here, but it only comes with a "normal" mag.
