Western Arms M4 CQB-R

Hey Poison, do you have any idea whether one of these will go on?

Or would that need to be Mil-Spec aswell? Did you have a go at the buffer tube yet?

That wouldn't work as the sling plate on RS ARs need to be slipped onto the buffer tube. The way AEGs work with the sling plate sandwiched between the buffer and the rear of the receiver is inaccurate.

You need either a RS sling plate or a sling plate made for the WA M4.

Na never really messed with the Buffer tube. From what others said its 99.9% close to RS spec.

I guess its a good/bad thing depending on how you look at it for the WA M4. For the US guys its extremely easy to get RS parts to mod it with, and from what I've seen they are "usually" cheaper than airsoft counterparts. Though for people across the pond...not so much :/

Huh? When you say open...do you mean seperate the upper from the lower? If so there's a takedown pin that needs to be pushed right below the forward assist button, and at the very front of the upper/lower.

Cheers, do I need to have the gun cocked and on safe to separate the upper and lower recieved it up as it is extremely tight fitting and I dont want to break it :P Or should I just use some force?

You don't need to have it cocked. On a real AR you do since the hammer is contact with the bolt. On the WA, it's purposly designed where the hammer is not touching the firing block so you can separate the upper with the lower without having it cocked. However, do make sure the bolt is not in the open position with the buffer compressed.

The pins are very tight fitting. I know I couldn't remove them by hand. I'd recommend getting a proper AR stand - otherwise, gently clamp it down and take a rubber mallet to remove the receiver pins. Also, just like real AR's, there is a detent on both pins. Although they won't fly out, keep in mind they are there and can come loose.

Just a good habit to have, is to always have it safed :)

But ya it does take some force to get them out :(

So, another thingie arrived...

G&P M4A1 Carbine outer barrel!

Nice Markings

Oh look....the bottom band is way thinner on the G&P outer barrel. On the right the stock WA unit, with the thicker bottom band...wait a minute...I wonder...

Oh yes!

Pretty!

So basically the G&P outer barrel made my crappy cheapo RIS fit. Think it has something to do with RS dimensions, again. Looks very nice now!

Also a point worth noting, the reciever (plastic), was ok in the beginning, not too bad. But now it's quite obvious! Where's the damned metal reciever!!! :D

Nice. Looks Pimp. Just need that MIAD on there now :)

Thanks man. I'm loving it :P MIAD on the way, and a new flashhider (god that stock one is terrible!) I think that's about it. Then I'll just keep looking at the explosion diagram in the manual, so I'm fully prepared when I get the metal body ;)

Ya they just forgot the space between or and die

How do you screw something that simple up for an ARMALITE replica?

How could you not employee a person that speaks English (or knows a damn thing about Armalite variants) to double-check a $700 airsoft replica's trades before they are mass-produced and released to the public..?

Goodness gracious.

Awesome looking gun... but screwed up trademarks for $700..? What a crying shame...

/rant

What are you talking about? Because an armalite is "simple", you cant screw up? What does knowing anything about armalites have anything to do with making a typo? and what do you mean by 700 dollars? that clone rail is 59 dollars...its made in china

Its just a tiny typo, its not like a letter was misplaced or a word was misspelled, it was just a darn space that wasnt put into the phrase

True... but it isn't desirable though. What I think it comes down to is that it's kinda silly that they don't do a little error checking before going to mass production. I mean, think about it... as a manufacturer you're about to invest a fair amount of money into a product. Spending 2 minutes to error check the logos and misc markings is hardly any effort. However, skipping those two minutes could inadvertently cost you several sales as there will definitely be potential buyers out there who get put off by something as small as that (myself included).

Two minutes of QC specialist's life against several thousand dollars in sales? It'd be money well spent I say! ;)

Edit: to keep on subject ... I received my 9 spare mags, 10 x G&P Valve Locks, PDI CQBR inner barrel, AS Recoil set, and a G&P WA Hammer Set. Already have the RATech hop up and G&P M4 front set. Just need a light weight bolt, reinforced loading nozzle and reinforced bolt catch and I'm satisfied.

Put all 10 mags into my Eagle PC w/ cummerbund. Not terrible weight wise. I may have to ditch one of my two 102 oz bladders I carry with me all day. Will just take a little getting used to. I'll see this weekend at OP:Blue Cloud.

IIRC, the "typo" is their way of trying to circumvent laws which (in theory) do not allow them to produce an unlicensed copy of a product.

Just for the record though. The typo wouldn't save them if they weren't based out of China. Larue could and WOULD take them down for copying his design.
