I dont have an AK at the moment, if anyone has both and can compare which is biggest smallest widest etc. Just doing some basic homework so thanks for any help. Link to post Share on other sites
Anteater Posted June 4, 2008 Report Share Posted June 4, 2008 M16 mags feed from the front of the mag while AK mags feed from the middle and there isn't enough room to be made on a AK body to mod it to accept M16 mags without building outward. You might be able to take a AK mag and cut it up for a few inches of the top section, build a part to accept stanag and some sort of feed tube that goes from the front to the AK feed(keeping in mind AK mags are not nearly as wide as a g36 mag like the PPA conversion so you'll have a obvious chunk hanging under your gun) it'd look stupid of course Link to post Share on other sites

azsworst Posted June 4, 2008 Report Share Posted June 4, 2008 Well for one, the feeding holes in the mags aren't similar (m4 having the hole up front, while the ak having it more near the middle). Then think about how the mag goes in the gun (m4 just sticks in, AK rocks in) so your m4 mags would have to have a fabricated lip on the front and back. Then there's the fact that the m4 mag is smaller than the ak width wise (5.56 vs 7.62)which would leave big gaps. IMO an AK should use AK mags, but it's not up to me so good luck.
