Purchased from airsplat as my first spring sniper rifle! After much use over the past month, here is my review and my thoughts of this budget level sniper rifle from AGM.

Basic Information:

This rifle was purchased from www.airsplat.com in a scope kit for about 70.00USD.

First Impressions:

My first impressions of this gun were of how light it is. Hefting the gun compared to my tokyo marui m14 was like comparing a full size truck to a hybrid sedan. This gun is nicely proportionate to fit a players body, it is portable and the whole gun is about 40 inches in length. I also liked the wood stock that came in my kit, it has a fine grained look to it and the high rise mounts for the scope leave good eye relief if you wish not to use the scope.

Lets look at some of the parts of the gun.

Bipod Adapter: Came with my gun so I can attach many types of bipods. It is constructed of what feels like metal and is very sturdy in body of the gun.

Sling Mounts: Compared to the quality of many clones sling mounts, these are very nice. I have heard of slings breaking and falling off, maybe due to the mounts maybe not, but these are very sturdy and I have had my sling mounted for the whole time I owned this gun and it never fell off.

Scope Mount: Mounted on the gun, is the scope mount. It can fit most types of scopes on its rail and is pretty sturdy with minimal wobble.

Magazines: My package came with 1 magazine, though it can be purchased with 2 magazines off of www.airsoftgi.com . The magazines are a transparent plastic, but are sturdier that suspected. They hold about 30 rounds, and due to the transparency, you can see how much ammo you have left. But for you airsofters that like the more realistic look, you can buy the vsr-10 mags which are full black and I don't own one, so I do not know if they are compatible but on pictures they look identical.

Disassembly and Reassembly: This gun is simple to disassemble and reassemble. To access the trigger mech, and bolt assembly, all you have to do is remove to 4mm bolts with the allen wrench provided with the gun. One is near the mag well, and another is near the trigger mech.

Appearance:

Much to my surprise the wooden stock is glorified on this gun. It has a nice fine grained texture unlike many clones. This gun resembles the m700 police rifle shown here:

The orange tip that comes on the gun, is easily removed with a small amount of heat and a flathead screwdriver.

Feel:

Hopefully, you are not buying this gun to compare it to the real steel gun, because it is very light and toyish feeling. But if you are using it for performance, this feeling is good, because it is maneuverable and easy to aim due to its light weight. The stock is also hollow, so if you wish to weight it you can stick weights in there, or you can put food, or even a small sidearm into the stock. This gun has a good balance to it, and consequently feels great with a scope. But again, it has a toyish feel so if you are looking for a realistic feeling gun, this isn't for you.

Build Quality:

Ok, I will move from front to back. In the front there is a 14mm inline threaded muzzle cap. It is attached to the full metal outer barrel which is made of nice quality and doesnt wobble on the gun. On the bottom of the gun are sling clips which are nicely attached and dont make loud noise when walking.

Near this on the other side of the gun is where you access the hopup. It is a small lever that you move forward and backward.

Farther back is the trigger. This is a light pull and has a nice smooth release to it.

Ok, to the insides of the gun. To extract the trigger, bolt, and barrel assembly from the gun, you remove 2 small screws via allen wrench on the bottom of the gun. Here is a picture of the gun without the body.

Next. To remove the barrel assembly from the bolt and trigger assembly you unscrew a small screw using a phillips head screwdriver. Here is a pic of the screw and the barrel assembly.

Then, to separate the trigger mech from the bolt assembly you have to do a few things.

Unscrew the trigger guard

Function:

To fire this gun, it is very simple. Using a speedloader, load the magazine and insert it into the mag well. Make sure you hear a small click so your bbs are entering the barrel. You then take hold of the bolt, bring it up, pull it back, and push it back forward, then down. Finally, you put the safety into the firing position, then take aim, and pull the trigger. The pull on the bolt of this gun is very easy and requires little effort. I cannot believe that this gun packs 400fps into that easy of a pull.

Performance:

With my gun, shooting in stock form in an indoor shooting range, I was able to achieve good results. I tested it at 150ft with .28s and a tuned hopup and scope. I was able to achieve results of groupings about 2 inches. I am not the best marksman, and this gun was able to put me in under 2 inch groups.

Pictures of the groupings on a homemade target: The whole group was contained in the small circle with the crosshairs. I highlight each of the 10 holes, besides the 2 fliers, which I didn't count in the grouping.

Skirmish Test:

In the skirmish that I was involved in with this gun, people marveled at the durability and performance of this clone. I got 3 headshots in the whole war, and I estimated them to be farther that 150ft. I also added a silencer, and it decreased the noise incredibly and I was ghostly in the woods.

Accessories:

Things you need to get are:

Scope and scope rings because there are no iron sights.

Maybe a spare magazine, but if you are a good sniper, you should be fine

And a bipod if you wish

Modifications:

I have not put any upgrades in my mp001, but it still works beautifully. Some upgrades you can consider are, firefly hard type hopup bucking, dees custom tightbore, and if you want to upgrade the spring, my cylinder is openable like many of the newer mp001s, so you can get a more powerful spring, and if you do so, you need a zero trigger. Vsr-10 parts are only compatible in the trigger mech, so don't try and put in a vsr-10 piston and such, they WON'T work. Those are some of the upgrades you can get.

DIY mods: There are many mods you can do yourself on this gun. One is called the Teflon mod. There are 3 parts you can Teflon mod on your gun. One is the cylinder threads. One is the cylinder nozzle, and finally you can Teflon the hopup. With a small bit of online searching you can find how to's on these mods, but for now, I will leave that up to you to find.

Conclusion

For only 70.00USD, you are getting a good sniper rifle that will last you a short while stock, but once upgraded becomes a reliable, and accurate weapon.

Pros:

Very Cheap

Many mods to upgrade fps

high fps out of the box

great looks

light (easy to carry in all situations)

great maneuverability

amazing accuracy

Cons:

Light (feels toyish to users looking for a good replica)

wearing trigger sears

hard to find upgrade parts

...nothing else really....

Purchasing:

This gun can be purchased from

www.airsoftgi.com

www.airsplat.com

Conclusion:

For my first spring sniper clone, I am highly impressed. I will now be more inclined to purchase other clones. I plan on getting an edgi upgrade kit and I will write a review on that. For now though, I am heavily impressed and would buy it 10 times over.

I give it a 5/5 for its price to performance ratio
