1911 dust cover length

I was thinking about putting a long or regular length 1911 slide onto an Officer sized frame, i.e. the Wilson Combat SDS. Other than the short dustcover, is there anything else that would prevent me from using the slide and guts of a government length 1911 slide on an Officer's sized frame?

Nothing really as long as you also use the appropriate length guides, springs and bushings for the slide. Even on non-matching scw versions i think they're still good to go because if anything, only the ignition parts are different. The same goes for Marui based 1911. Tried fitting a Government slide on a Combat Master frame to make a Street Master. It worked fine and all but it was sure as hell ugly, which is probably why that model never sold much on RS.
