Have you ever considered making an M76?

At my end of things, have a cyma ak on the way, possibility of reviving my groza project. I now have a gunsmith to help with the bulpup mod, he sais it's very easy as long as you do it to fine tolerences, so over to his house at some point.

Hey, You guys who own Real Sword type 56 -1s, i bought one the other day and i love it to bits but i have only one fear, i bought some mags from the local retailer and they didn't fit in the gun. On closer inspection the type 56 mags seem to be different from usual mags. Have any of you guys had this problem also??

My 56-1 fits TM, Real Sword, STAR, and MAG magazines with no problems, what magazines are you having a problem with?

Its probably what he could get his hands on. If you ever see field pictures of Russian soldiers, they are pretty rag-tag.

It is part of their charm.

For those Type 56 owners, do you prefer the solid or folding stock? What are they like? I am shopping for one in the coming weeks...

Looks that way. Our friend in the top pic wasn't even issued a mag.

They were probably doing maneuvers, ones that don't involve shooting. No need for a magazine then. I don't mean any disrespect ,but when I see combat photos where in a 5 man squad there are 5 different camouflages and what seems to be very little standardized gear. I am gonna call them "rag-tag".

Not to be an *albatross*, but here it goes:

OH NOES Look at those idiots with their stupid western styled AKs...

Oh wait, those are Russian troops.

Owned.

Technically the first picture you posted is not of a Russian soldier. The pictures you went to the effort of linking too (hotlinking from Bratishka? tsk tsk ;) ) are in fact from a recent anti-terror competition held by the CIS countries. Teams from the members' federal services (KGB or FSB) competed in a number of exercises including marksmanship with pistol, rifle, etc...

I don't really see who is being owned. If this is your evidence for use of railed AK's, it's not particularly strong. As this is a competition, decisions of the teams would be based on the peace time, non-combat context. Pictures of teams Alfa and Vympel in the field indicate they're not really on the rail boat.

If you feel compelled to justify putting all manner of ###### on your AK, that's kind of sad. You don't need the internet to approve of your purchases. Or Bratishka for that matter.

Also, what is a "western styled" AK? Is there some sort of crazy paradigm I'm missing? If the VDV ran around with Eotechs would that make your day better?

Baffling.

I hate to say it, but the paintjob on that AK actually look kinda good. Has that battle field improv spray job about it.

Whats with the Flecktarn Drop leg holster?

Russian commercial equipment companies produce a lot of different patterns as you're probably aware of. One of the lest commonly seen ones is a variation of the flecktarn. It's printed by Splav, SPOSN, and I think Modox too. The holster he is wearing could very well be an APS drop leg produced by one of the aforementioned companies. I'm not too sure if it is in fact domestically made, but there's a good chance it is.

Its probably what he could get his hands on. If you ever see field pictures of Russian soldiers, they are pretty rag-tag.

Kind of a generalization. And a rather unflattering one too!

Fineally. I just got bashed at a game for just having that same rail and EOtech on my Ak. =/

Unless you were dressed as a Ukraininian or Belarusian (or whatever country the soldier is from), the picture doesn't really justify having it. Still, you should have clocked that person in the nose for caring too much.

Ok, go ahead and call the premier anti-terror teams in Russia "rag-tag".

The diverse range of uniforms was because it was a competition! Different teams needed to distinguish amongst themselves for the benefit of the judges as well as each other. If they all dressed the same (I'm sure you would have liked them to be in multicam  ) it would be kind of hard to tell who was who.

And for a picture, here's a photograph of Vympel, in the field, with suprisingly boring AK's:

I just want to have another go at this :P

The two-tone uniforms that the FSB teams are wearing are actually commissioned. Yes! It is not standard practice for the manufacturer to produce them as seen. They are requested for production!

Additionally the armor costs roughly 1400USD (offering level IV protection) and the helmets (offering total protection of IIIA in excess of 2000USD. The armor package alone for these specialists is in excess of 3500USD!

Rag-tag indeed!

i have been completely and utterly Owned.

who cares? they still look like *suitcase*. this is airsoft, we care about the appearance of our guns, soldiers dont. if bolting something onto their gun that will minutely increase their battlefield effectiveness or up their chances of survival at the cost of the the gun's appearance so be it. in the airsoft world it's not life or death, and thus we can afford to leave our AKs plain and pretty.

oh and after reading neo's posts i just had to fix your post ;)

anyhoo, MOAR PICS! i'll start.

AKS74-1.jpg

newly weathered VFC AKS74 (no sidemount), partizan suit, SMERSH rig, 1x RS converted izzy bakelite, 1x RS converted izzy plum and 2 east german bakelites :). hopefully sorting out my afghan kit and a tourniquet after pay day :D

scotch brite pads are great for weathering folks, very controllable and less scratchy that sandpaper or wire wool.
