AK & Variants Picture Thread

they really do feel different. bakelite has an odd cold, weighty solid feel to it.

and it really would look better than a stock TM sprayed, as with paint you will have real difficulty replicating the grain and pattern of real bakelite. would be a worthwhile mod if you were converting a TM 74M into an AKS74 IMO.

Nop.. mostly because only Romanians, Chinese (low numbers though) and the Polish made production metal 5.45 mags.. the rest used polymer or bakelite..

You missed North Korea ;) There be very few photos of it but it looks the same as the Chinese (possibly is the Chinese)

fear not, you'll learn to love the polymer mags ;)

besides steel 5.45 mags look odd in general IMO.

rusmil has some RS ones if you're interested, you want them as hicaps so you shouldnt need many (2 perhaps). just buy a couple of RS ones and bung AK74 hicap internals in them :)

The 40rd hicap (it is a hicap) holds something like 1200-1500rds. I don't know for sure, since it always measures a little differently, but it will feed every single one of them reliably. It's a CYMA hicap with ICS guts and took about 10 minutes to slap together (modification of magazine aside).

*edit - I'm working on converting a real 55rd magazine. That should be really fun. :)
