Um...

The VFC AIMS is compatible with the real VLTOR receiver extension...

Ive got a bad picture here somewhere.

Its an odd picture, huge resolution and the stocktube isnt completely straight. This is an issue on SOME real AK's as well.

aye, but he doesnt have an IMS now does he? ;)

AIMS has standard stock tangs IIRC, the AKS74 recievers have a completely different hinge system.

as i say, just get a spare stock, hack it back and stick a buffer tube on it. done and dusted. if it doesnt work out, not much of a loss as Dboys stocks are dirt cheap and if it does work out it's still easy to interchange between a proper folding stock and the CTR.

Bingo :P

VFC's rail is around 1mm thinner than other AK rails, which is beyond what adjustment can do.

You may need to use something as "shim", I suggest put that shim on the top side of the rail to prevent the shim coming off.

I've heard this from a lot of people, but my VFC AKS-74's rail works perfectly fine with my Cobra and PK-A.

My ak family:

*snip*

1. TM AK47, element ak74 body

2. Cyma akm, NVA handguards. Stock is plastic and needs refinishing.

3. Kalash aks74u, modified plastic handguards

I've heard that the stock tangs on the CYMA AKM are weird, just exactly what do they look like? Have you though about throwing on a EG pebble stock and make it more MPi KM like? MPi KM's are pretty sweet.

Anyone know how the build quality on the "LCT" AK parts are?

I am looking to build an AKMS and they appear to make a kit with everything I need. The base would be a TM AK-47S.

you don't need a base, just a gearbox, hopup unit and barrel

if the quality is same as RMW wich looks like it, then it is certainly worth it's money, although the stripping method includes too many allen screws

Well, uh, obviously they're not the same gun. As you said yourself the upper receiver, flash hider, fore arm, gas block, and etc. are all different. One's an AKM (a late-model AK-47) and the other is a classic AK-47

since they're both full metal they probably weigh about the same

personally, I'd wait for the new CYMA full-steel AKM

When does it come out...?

and what is Cymas address url?

or where did u find the news about the steel ak their releasing

EDIT Im sorry Bronco I dont know what AKM Stands for.

it's in the news section of this website

CYMA doesn't have a site as far as I know

maybe you should do a little bit of research of your own? I studied almost everything about my AKS-74U before I purchased it, including the real-steel stats

edit: uhhh look here

AKM and AK-47 info

I got all this on the first page of a google search for "AKM"

The first on is a bog standard AK47. They are supposed to be pretty good. The second is an AKM, I have one and it's a great gun. Both guns shoot really hot. Mine shot 475 out of the box, and has settled to 460.

Basic rundown of the differences:

AK47:

*Vented Gas Block, has 3 holes on each side.

*Milled Reciever

*Non-Laminated Furniture, Lacks Bulge in Lower Handguard

*Sling Mount on Reciver, sling mount on gas block

*Smooth Reciver cover

* Basic Wood pistol Grip

AKM:

*Vented Gas Block, has one semicircle cutout on each side

*Stamped reciver

*Laminated Furniture, Bulge on Lower handguard

*Sling Mount on Stock (only on models with a fixed stock), front sling mount on Lower handguard retainer

*Ribbed Reciver Cover

*Rear Sight Graduated to 800m

* Checkered Bakelight Pistol Grip
