Hey curious question, for those of you who like to give your guns a sandy style look to them, has anyone ever tried burying say a RIS or stock in some sand, and just leaving it there for some time, then say taking it out and letting it sit in the sun to see if anything kinda "bakes" on to keep the effect??

I figure I might try this when I get my CQBR, since now I've pretty much got all the necessary accessories for a decent SEAL blaster.

Hey curious question...

On a side note, anyone know anything about old LBT chest rigs? Just picked up a few pieces of kit from a local surplus store that came from an old retired SEAL. LBT, ABA, Eagle, Blackhawk stuff. I know what most of the stuff is, but in the mix was an LBT chest rig for shotgun shells that I can't ID. It's got two long horizontal pouches that open from the top and have elastic webbing for shells, and it's also been heavily modified with velcro and an OD pouch was sewn on the side. The rig is in woodland. Any help? Pictures upon request for those that can help out. Thanks.

You can take some super fine sand (the kind you can buy at a craft store) and rub it onto your accessories that you want to "Weather" on your gun. It actually looks kinda cool once you are done. I don't really know what you meant by the "Baking on" statement so maybe that wasn't very helpful to what you want to do... :D

You prolly won't want to get it near the internals of the gun though.

Ya with the baking on thing, I was thinking more along the lines of the sand kinda having a permanent state of being on the gun or gear and not rubbing off when you rub or grab a certain area. But with the super fine sand I'll try that. If anything I'll probably leave it buried for about a week, keep it in the sun to replicate heat for about a few days, and see how it turns out. I'll let you guys know how well this works if any at all and post pics as well.
