TheFull9
I can honestly say I've never seen so much written about an airsoft outer barrel, good to see really. Nice to know it's got the cut-out for batteries if you're using a SOCOM, which is the only real complaint I've got with all the DYTAC ones, though I've PM'd USCM about that so looking forward to seeing what the result'll be there. kithooton
Madball 6.01 Tight Bore Barrel. http://www.madbullairsoft.com/English/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=21_41 Is it worth putting in for a stock sopmod. Accuracy, FPS increase?
AnakChan
So I take it no one knows what this is? Need a scale against that pin, mate. Better idea on size.
druid799
think i"ve reached magpul over load so i"ve binned all the magpul of my socom and changed tack , going for C8 look in stead ;
Mad-Larkin
pin looks almost like part of the long pin that holds the (am pretty sure i know the proper names for these, but am tired and brain won't work) system on top of the gearbox that pulls the little door on the right back when u fire. TheFull9
Looks like eHobby are the first to get in some of the new outer barrels: http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=Dytac+M4+EBB+Outer+Barrel&x=0&y=0&cat=177 Only the shorter ones so far, but when the >14.5" models are out I'm gonna have to get one, and then build a whole other SOCOM. Which is annoying because I wanted to get the SCAR this month, but I can't resist... Rather annoyed about the fact they've not bothered with the cut-outs underneath though, such a simple thing and I'm not sure even if a lipo will fit without it, so probably going to have to get the tools out and chop one myself now. elanaiba
In both my URX 2 and the RIS 2 I used before, the Lipos sit on the sides of the barrels, only the deans sits in the cutout of the barrel.
Caelas
L11A1 barrel and I will jump all over it.

Banshee_Will
Right quick silly question I want to install the madbull 9.5 inch rail on my sopmod (its standard at the moment) like this: http://www.airsoftvanguard.com/index.php?p=6&id=1187&lang=en&msg=Session%20Expiried!&s= What barrel length will I need, and were can I get it from?
elanaiba
10.5" is the minimum - the laylax/prometheus one for example. Beware, the Mabul RIS II is nice, but the barrel nut won't fit on your SOPMOD unless you do rethreading. I had to do the same on mine, its a PIA
Mad-Larkin
Hey chaps, quick question, probably been covered, but will a g+p DD ris system fit on a sopmod? A bit of work to make it go is fine, but i don't wanna have to be rethreading or anything. cheers
Oppressor
anyone knows where I can buy a TK twist inner barrel for sopmod ?

Elvis
Why do you want to go with a twist barrel? The TM has a great hopup unit...
Isamu
Maybe he thinks the twist can improve his groupings
elanaiba
Why do you want to go with a twist barrel? The TM has a great hopup unit... Twist barrels work very well with good hopup units. I have one in my socom.
Elvis
I know, airsoft isn't an exact science, but doesn't the twist effect negates the hop up? I haven't got any experience with those twist barrels, but I'm kinda curious about that... Edited February 28, 2011 by Elvis
elanaiba
Apparently twist barrels don't contact the bb (as in rifled barrels) but rather create an air cushion that keep the BB centered. My best ever shooting rifle was the CA M15A2 carbine i had customized to precisely 100m/s with a twist barrel, firefly rubber, prometheus hop unit.... Very predictable and long range trajectory, with no "minimum engagement distance penalty". I don't remember if i did any measuring in the final stage of upgrading, but anyone that played with that gun said it was a tack driver. I just sold it cause Sopmods are so much more fun. My (limited experience) is that you'll get better accuracy with a twist barrel compared to a Systema 6.04 barrel, but I have no experience with other brands of tightbores. zaimon
Beware of the LAYLAX MUR-1 TM sopmod upper receiver. it wont fit to the TM sopmod. i dont know why they sell this inspite of lack of precision.it needs machining before you can use this.
elanaiba
Details? Where?
zaimon
i went to the machine shop and I was charged for $20 usd for the machining job.
elanaiba
So what did not fit?
zaimon
if you dont file that surface the charging handle will not go inside and lots of areas where you need to file so that it will fit perfectly in the lower receveir as well.
