weekenny
Yeehaa! Its here. First game tomorrow night I hope. Quick question to replace the recoil spring can I just remove the stock and end cap to do it or does the stock tube have to come off?
akiraspeedstar
Yeah I haven't really had out gunned issues myself either, actually had a few people say they were surprised by my range. Mostly I just want every advantage I can get, if through barrel won't help much, that at least saves me money. Weekeny - Just remove the end cap of the tube and you're good to go, don't need remove the tube or anything. To change only the recoil spring will take a good 30 seconds. weekenny
Cheers buddy. Got a recoil spring and hard locking ring supplied with it so I'll need the tool to fit the ring but at least I can crack on and get the recoil spring in.
weekenny
**** end cap seems stuck oh well once I have the tool I'll do it from the other end.
Megalomaniac
I had the same happen with Fathammer's when ever I tried to get it open, instead take a nice good flat head screwdriver and small hammer place the screw driver in the slot at the edge halfway sticking out and angle so when you rap it with the hammer it will turn the cap in the direction you want it to turn, one good whack should break it loose, afterwards clean and apply a tiny amount of dry lube to the threads. akiraspeedstar
I used the nail removing end of a hammer haha, it fit perfectly into both slots.
sacairsoftsn00py
Classic Army SIR and #40 BUIS bolted on. Battery used is a Hyperion 7.4v 2100mah 25C lipo. I have the gun wired for deans plugs. The battery is "fitted". It's fairly snug along with the wiring. No rattling and no snagging of the battery or wiring. Megalomaniac
Anyone try and fit a G&P or KA (or real KAC) MRE Rail (11" with FSP cut out) to a SOCOM/SOPMOD, any snow ball's chance in hell of fitting a battery in there?
elanaiba
**** end cap seems stuck oh well once I have the tool I'll do it from the other end. No you cannot do it from the other end... the stock tube is caped behind the gearbox spring guide, you cannot access and remove the recoil weight from there.
weekenny
Ah right ok, thanks. I'll try the methods above to get it off.

Mad-Larkin
best tool i've found for getting the end cap off is a metal ruler. fits in the slot perfectly and you can grip and twist just nicely. now anyone found where i'd be able to get a new trigger? not the switch setup, the actual trigger. Have managed to shear off one of the side pins.
akiraspeedstar
SOCOM Owners - What battery options are there? Anything other then lipo that'll fit? I'm considering buying a SOCOM but kind of what to know my options before I do so.

weekenny
The socom handgaurd is quite good for battery fitment plenty room for std mini batteries the barrel is flattened on the underside to make fitment easier and the lower gaurd has tabs to stop the battery sliding about. Personally opted for a 7.4v 2200mah lipo as I'm sick of small lipos in my PDW not lasting a day. Aslo plenty room for a battery monitor and the Leds can be seen through the holes in the lower guard. weekenny
OK my tube spanner arrived and I set about changing the stock tube locking ring, I noticed right away how tight the factory one was then it became clear it was that tight as the lock ring had been done up so tight its thread was already damaged. Laylax one now on and tight

akiraspeedstar
Nice, I was afriad that it'd take a good month or more to get to me once I ordered it. Though if it took a little over a week for you, considering I'm closer to Japan, hopefully it'll only take a few days.
