akiraspeedstar
For a socom I'd go with the mk18 rail since you can remove the lower half easily to access the battery. Here's my gun
weekenny
Can the Mk18 take a battery?
akiraspeedstar
Can the Mk18 take a battery? below the barrel has a good amount of space, the side has more, and the top has a load of space. Though i have a cqb-r so I've never tried putting one in there. Edited November 23, 2011 by akiraspeedstar

akiraspeedstar
If anyone was ever wondering the difference between the prometheus and lone cylinder heads other then the double o-ring, here you go.
Megalomaniac
Stop the press, had anyone actually tried fitting a two or three cell butterfly pack LIPO into the DD mk18 rail, or is it conjectural?
Oppressor
If anyone was ever wondering the difference between the prometheus and lone cylinder heads other then the double o-ring, here you go. which one is lonex (left or right)? and they seem almost identical from the picture ... Edited November 24, 2011 by Oppressor
akiraspeedstar
Lonex is on the left, yeah they're pretty much identical. Though the prometheus looks like the air would travel smoother.
Megalomaniac
I'd call them drastically different, the Prommy looks like it sports better airflow and a narrower but thicker (and more likely softer) buffer ring.
akiraspeedstar
Yeah the buffer ring does look like a softer material in comparison to the Lonex, which is rubber, but looks/feels pretty solid.
weekenny
Stop the press, had anyone actually tried fitting a two or three cell butterfly pack LIPO into the DD mk18 rail, or is it conjectural? All conjecture at the moment mate. I know two 6mm x 20mm cells fit the lite so I ordered one. I'll compare it to the mk18 I have when it comes.
TK4235
Plus the pommy looks better all round....dig the red colour over the gold.... not that it makes a difference... Well this weekend is a geasrbox rebuild for me using my pommy cylinder.... can't wait to see how the gun performs after that..
Megalomaniac
That would be better, as it would decrease the speed of the piston over a longer time, putting less shock on the rest of the gearbox.
weekenny
Ok so I was tinkering tonight and decided to measure up the lower part of my mk18 RIS with the Socom outer barrel and the gap is 11mm so when fitted 5.5mm a side looks like the Socom/Sopmod outer barrel is such that the lite rail and the batteries at an angle may be the only way. That said my mk18 may be a little under spec and my barrel a little over so you might get lucky. Once my battery and Lite rail arrive I'll try a few combo's.
BerserkDS
I've had the same problem on my sopmod, versus my socom
elanaiba
guys, I have ran a Madbul DD RIS 2 with a 7.4 lipo (the Kongpower 1100 mah) in it. Hard but it fits. Now I'm running the same in an URX 2.

AnakChan
I'd personally recommend going for 1400mAh instead of 1100mAh. This is what I use now :- http://www.gunsmithbaton.com/product/
weekenny
My 1450mah lipo arrived today so I'll try to squeeze it in. Battery dims 6x22x129
akiraspeedstar
Son of a *badgeress*! I just bought prometheus double torque up gears and now its only $69 at redwolf! Buy it now guys! Edited November 25, 2011 by akiraspeedstar
TK4235
$69 wow that's dirt cheap! I wonder what shipping to the UK is... Shipping is about $23 to the UK.. Will I need to buy any shims & bearings too? Edited November 25, 2011 by TK4235
akiraspeedstar
Don't buy shims, it comes with the gears, as for the bearings/bushings, I would/did.
TK4235
Akira Have you noticed an improvement with the gun by installing these pomy gears? My Marui stock gears seem fine (for the moment), so i'm wondering if it's worth upgrading them or not? Edited November 25, 2011 by TK4235
TK4235
Ok, i've brought a set... lol Can't complain for £60 posted I guess....
weekenny
lol I have no plans at the moment to mod mine to where I'd need a gear set but I am tempted.
