Right, in general a shooter's cheek weld should be very close to the same every time he lifts the gun. Thus a larger glass won't help you much if your cheekweld is the same and the red dot is close to the center of the optic. Thus an AP Micro is more slimlined for the same job

Just finished building two new guns for my collection (bottom two)

Both have a custom 9.6v 1200 mAh NiCd battery in the stock tube built from a 12v Systema PTW battery (i don't trust Li-po's.....or rather i dont trust myself to take care of them)

They just fit when the stock is fully extended with enough space for a DEANS connector at the end. Gives a nice balance to the guns and plenty of power for high ROF!

The Noveske Diplomat has an 8mm G&P gearbox (i am very interested to test it and see how well it holds up)

The Olympic Arms rifle has a systema turbo motor/mechbox with full helical gears - I found that with the systema turbo motor you can use the hex bolts that attach the brushes to the end bell, to secure the motors power wires. (this gives a more secure connection to the motor than the push on crimps......which i keep breaking)

Is that a functioning silencer on the second from the top one. If so, how much of a difference does it make?

Yeah it is, makes a bit of a difference, takes away the sharp clacking sount of the BB leaving the barrel...... you just have to remember that most of the noise is emitted from the gearbox and motor and not down the barrel.

Its mostly for show.

The Noveske flash hider on the other hand amplifies the sound considerably!

Has anyone ever thought of doing a setup like this:

johnlaplume.jpg

Now I know for sure parts list would include: Noveske 10.5 barrel, Krink flashider, Aimpoint in a Larue Mount, Aimpoint 3x magnifier in a twist mount, Crane stock, Larue Rail..I believe a 9.0, Surefire M900, Troy folding sights both front and back, and what appears to be a regular possible colt AR rifle.

Another setup that I've seen from an issue of SWAT shows Laplume with the same setup, unpainted, but with an AN/PEQ in a Larue QD mount, a Surefire M1 infrared illuminator with SF Xm07 tailcap assembly.

I've like this setup for quite sometime and have always wanted to do it but never got around. Anyone ever attempted it?
