Anteater
The buyer cannot verify that the gift card is active or if it has already been used until it is in their hands or until the buyer trys to use it, even after the card is in the buyer's hands the previous owner can often still use the numbers online. So to avoid any of those problems Sellers don't list them and buyers do not purchase gift cards unless directly from the retailer or store. Same thing for coupons, vouchers, tokens, park money(like disney dollars), online credits(like games or retail points), free rental stubs or whatever else that takes the place of money even if it cannot be redeemed online.
