Dentonboy
I saw a MARPAT wearing group, an obligatory Multicam wearing group, a 'Black Hawk Down' Delta group and a couple of UK Gulf era Desert wearers with mags in, guns up and posing like soldiers in a 'liberated' Middle-East town...all were airsofters. If that includes your group, then I apologise, but if you were mags out and guns down, it wouldn't seem to be. I am not some Mary Whitehouse charactor, just someone who likes to see airsoft being portrayed in a positive light, and flaunting site rules at a major even can only be a negative. If they have permission, then of course, no worries. But I doubt they have even heard of Rex, let alone asked permission to have weapons in the public area. For me, the Nazi apparel issue is a bigger concern. I have been going to Beltring's War and Peace show since I was 4/5 (1986/7) and seeing this show host stalls of dubious content is like seeing a favourite aunt on a porn site... There is a place for the weapons, and that is in and at the frankly awesome displays.
HaVoC
Last year (and again this year) we're all wearing ACUs with tan gear - pretty current US Army SF fare. This was us last year, for the record: We have mags in (and we're allowed this), but with absolutely no ability to fire, and like I say, weapon safety kept in mind at all times. We've never had any issues. We haven't had a static display before (and probably won't this year either) due to the money it takes to make a really great one. We want to sometime, we just haven't managed it yet, so roaming is the next best thing. The public seem to like it, anyway.
Dentonboy
If only other airsofters shared your outlook and responsibility. Others just want to ponce about - looking like extras from 'Generation Kill.' Fair play. The Nazi issue must be sorted though. That is the problem.
HaVoC
Yeah, it has a bit of a reputation as a 'place to walk around in gear, in public' and that's just way off. It's a reenactment show, for reenactors - people who put in the time and effort to achieve a specific look accurate to real soldiers, not people who throw on some Multicam and grab an MP5 and shout "I AM SOLDUR LOL!". It's annoying.
