Was over at one of the raf reg squadrons on camp today, saw a poster up on a wall detailing fully the new upgrades to the L85 package, not sure if it was bang up to date but here's a full list of the changes that I can remember:

-ACOG 4x scopes with specialised mount and attached docter style reflex sight.

-Railed handguard

-Grip-pods

-Laser/torch unit as standard to go in a similar place to the current screw-on model (presumably a new 20mm mount version)

-Vortex flash eliminators

Apologies this isn't really DPM related, but I figured a few people might be interested in the details.

No idea, custom flash eliminators are more of an American civvie shooter thing so I couldn't tell you what the effects are in terms of recoil/flash/noise without looking them up, but I'll guarantee they wouldn't have spent the money on them if there wasn't a case; the standard one is a pretty ancient design to be honest. Shouldn't affect bayonets I don't think, the lug that it clicks in to is part of the barrel, the flash holes won't line up any more of course, but maybe they're looking at new bayonets as well.

Pic from today´s games. Had a little high-speed-low-drag setup going there, tho it was due to the fact having only 2 magazines for WE.

Notice also the face camo :D (being the first of May I had to make up some kind of mask).

The first vest is actually a Dutch assault vest, made for the Marines IIRC, but it is favored by British troops, notably the Para's.

The second vest looks to be the same type, but customized with, among other things, grenade pouches on the right side and a utility pouch on the left.

If you're going for an osprey you might want to consider the desert UBACS as well, always a good combination. Definitely with Darklite on the vest, looks like you've got a few straps and pouch fastenings dangling in the breeze there, a bit of tape or zip ties should sort you out nicely; putting time in to adjusting your LBE is always a worthwhile investment. Looks like a good start though mate, keep at it.

Sleeves...eh?

More often then not, you always have your sleeves rolled up. In hot weather you roll the sleeves one or two times, but nothing past the elbows.

As for vests, the UBACS, it's made for body armour, so any body armour will work with it.

I could swear I've always been taught roll the lightweight jacket to above the elbow... haven't regularly worn greens in that long I forget, but I think that's right. Anyway, of all the times I've worn CS95 it's (unsurprisingly) not often been hot enough for short- (shirt? I've heard different pronunciations) sleeve order so mostly sleeves rolled down, it's perfectly comfortable. Gives your forearms a respectable amount of protection from the undergrowth or mid-day heat; if you're like me and instantly burn this being fairly handy.

Personally I think UBACS are best with full plate carrier type gear, with chest rigs and the like you end up with the t-shirt material showing which I find looks a bit gash, but that's only my opinion.

I've got a BULLE MLE myself and I'd say just run it with your normal CS95 lightweight jacket to be honest. Gives you all the MOLLE capacity you need simply and cheaply, very easy to get on and off to. Really UBACS came about because of the need to wear large armour plates in combat theatres, there's no such requirement in airsoft, hence UBACS with plate carriers are more a style choice than anything I reckon. As someone starting out (which I guess you are) then BULLE stuff is a sure bet, it's not the cheapest but if you only buy 1 rig to use for every game it will last you far longer than you need before you inevitably buy something else.

A standard set of 95s with some basic, sturdy boots and an MLE Harness is exactly what I'd have started with looking back now with hindsight, funnily enough it's almost precisely what my younger brother did get at first.
